With ickey returning

Returning as what? A backup guard?  His chances to return as a franchise LT are pretty slim.  Sadiq is a luxury pick. I get his speed and athleticism are elite but he can't block, has problems with drops (sound familiar), and would be invisible to Bryce over the middle.

combined production of the tight end group would’ve been near the top of the league if assimilated into one do it all player

there’s nothing to suggest Canales doesn’t like tight ends.

That might be a good argument against spending the 19th pick on  a TE.

Committee is working pretty well.

No ability to create explosives with the ball in their hand

tremble is a nice move piece. Evans blocks really well. Add a playmaker and that’s a varied room of talent with package versatility.

I have been desirous of a stud TE in the past but that is too much of a luxury right now. IMO.

For one big thing I don’t believe we have a QB that will maximize the investment. If people think we could recreate Cam and Greg, I would say they are dreaming.

For another we have holes a lot bigger than a perceived hole at TE.

This isn't a ACL tear. I would say his chances of returning to form are great. Maybe he won't be 100% this year but I don't think this injury should change his career trajectory. How is 6'4 42 inch vertical invisible?

It's not an ACL tear, no - it's a significantly worse injury.

The team believes have the QB. We’re not preparing the roster for the future, they’re building strengths to go win the division this season.

If you’re drafting a guy like Sadiq who looks like Vernon Davis lite then you do so to make him a big part of your offense.

He isn’t my preferred choice but I won’t hate the pick just because the offense looked bleak for good parts of the season and that was with Rico going off….

It would be par for the course I guess. But splurging on a splashy TE, when we have had decent production by committee and have many other needs, is not a brilliant plan.

If this is about replacing Tremble, there are guys in FA.

I don't think you can compare any of those guys to Sidiq. Like none of them demand coverage. None of them are anything before or after the catch. Sidiq is. At the 19th getting an elite player at one aspect of anything is rare. Can you find starters at 19 absolutely. But can you find the fastest player ever at the position at 19? No that would be a blessing.

What is the context of long term? NFL career or lifetime? That would matter.

I think like lingering issues. You don't want Jonathan Brooks part 2 where you hold your breath Everytime he goes down. I am not a doctor but I don't think it's a will never be the same like degenerative thing like ACLs can be

    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
    • Honestly its why that Jalen Coker grab was a big deal.  I'd been warming up to the idea of a sadiq pick and was adamantly against a receiver...but this altered my train of thought.  I mean For instance, Cade Otton signed for 3 yr 30 mil contract...thats not dramatically different than the rookie payscale for #19 (4 year 20 mil with 5th year option), however you KNOW otton is decent...no clue if Sadiq will be anything.
