Charlotte Hornets Offseason Moves

Most of us Hornets fans are in heaven right now, but it’s never too early to look ahead to next year.

We have some serious draft capital and trade bait to throw around this offseason.

Starting this new thread to ask…who would you target to upgrade next year’s squad?

This new Front Office clearly has a plan and is good at evaluating talent.  In my dream scenario, we would put together a package for a dominant BIG on the same timeline as our BIG3.  Jalen Duren would be my #1 target (even over guys like Giannis).  Whether that’s remotely possible or not, I have no clue.

Who are some young players / trade scenarios we might pull off this offseason?

The Coby White trade seems to be paying off, as well as our last draft, let’s keep it going!  Buzz Buzz Bitchezz.

The squad is really in tune with each other and working super well. We’re the best in the league since Christmas.

I would be very cautious to make a ton of moves. If any, we need to be extremely careful and make sure it’s for a legit impact player to make a 4-man wrecking crew w/ Ball/Miller/Kon.

The move I’d make— Bam. If you can manage that with picks and Bridges, could be an interesting move. 

But absolutely preserve Lamelo/White, Kon, Miller, and Diabate/Kalk at minimum.

Definitely down with that.  Bam is another guy that fits the criteria I think.

Playing Moose at the 4, with Bam or Duren at the 5 just seems nasty to me.  But Bam is a better shooter, so I would for sure go along with that.

And yes, we don’t have to make too drastic moves.  Keep drafting well and we will be OKC of the East really soon.

We cannot trade for Duren. We literally gave him away being cheap. It would bother me too much giving away assets for a Jordan blunder.

Whoever you get has to be able to shoot a 3 for spacing purposes, especially if you want to replace Miles at 4 with Moose and run a different center. 

 

I like the Miles for Giannis trade idea but where do you put him? At center? 

 

Can you imagine a double screen and roll/slip with with Lamelo, Giannis and Kon...

 

If you do that trade you need another free agent / draft pick to play at 4 that can stretch the floor otherwise I don't think it works.

I honestly like just letting these guys grow. They're all super young outside miles. You have two first round picks this year plus saliun. I think the goal would be that's your replacement for miles

If I was giannis I would want to play with kon ball and miller.

Yes, he was very complimentary about Kon at the All Star game.  He has said he wants to go to a contender and if charlotte makes the playoffs, I don't see how they wouldn't be considered one with Giannis on the team.
