When you look at the offense, the biggest thing that could hold it back is clearly Bryce Young.  Maybe you could make a case for a sophomore slump from TMac or Jalen Coker not having a true breakout season or something, but when you look at the depth chart one of those names on there is obviously not like the others.

I think he hit it last season.

That remains to be seen, but you might be right.  Was 2025 Bryce good enough?  Nope.

If I am Morgan, I am very aware of the 2026 QB class.  I am not sure I make a move for a franchise QB until then, but build the core as he has been.  IF Bryce comes around in 2026, I am still kinda mad about it because he will want to get paid for one year of production.  Secondly, he will have made $30m or so for 4 years sucking without competition--and that seems to have been intentional.  That is what burns me up.  Make him work for it--make him earn it.

Bryce has improved every year, but the team has improved around him too.

I have to think that Pickett and King signed here because they think they can take the qb1 job. Won't predict either one doing it but it seems like the easiest job to steal.

True. Some might say we are about to find out just how important RIco was last year.  At least 2026 will be a good year to learn that your QB is not cutting it. But you still have to draft correctly.  I mean, moved up for Bryce--gave him every opportunity.  Let's see how this goes.  I am not 100% certain that he cannot make it happen, but I see a Tua/Murray situation here--at best.

They are all different. If attitude and that sort of thing make a difference I have to put Murray in the trail position. But he has the most raw talent. Funny how that works

Rico was huge for about three or four games. But not necessarily  in a way that can’t be replicated. I still think it was a combination of motivation on his part plus excellent OL play. It wasn’t Just Him.
We have put a ton on the Brooks proposition and will just have to see what happens.

I could have put that into a single reply if it wasn’t  a holiday lol.

What is he supposed to say?

This is a nothingburger. Teammates aren't going to throw their QB under the bus before training camp even starts no matter how much they suck. Us fans can though, and Bryce fuggin sucks.

Bryce sucks like 80% of the time, give him credit for the 20% of the time he doesn’t embarrass us

I am holding out hope for a miraculous run this season. But you know the narrative around him is peak delusional when the Panthers social team can post this without even a hint of irony. Four years and almost 50 games into his career he still looks like he's never set foot in the weight room. Really?

There's a lot of truth here, but at the same time, that one year of production we might be paying for is actually paying for a development arc. And a lot of players have those. QB is the most complicated position in sports, hands down.

I'm not saying Bryce will make it past the hump this year, the odds are stacked against him just like any QB in the league that isn't already considered an elite player (and there are only about 5-8 of those at most). Arcs happen, and slow arcs happen, too. Sam Darnold seemed a wash up for the Jets and a horrible mistake. He was better with us, but still couldn't carry a bad team on his shoulders (or bad coaching). He went to Minnesota and got a shot under better coaching with more mature eyes to see the field. Something sparked and then he took his team to the Super Bowl and brought home a ring. Baker Mayfield had a similar arc, and may yet hit the big game. Hell, locally, Jake Delhomme had one.

Or Bryce could flutter back down having already hit his peak. It happens. More often than any of us want to admit. We've paid for a full development arc for Bryce, but we've had it on rookie deal rates and that's been a savings that has let us build out the rest of the team, which was really needed. Maybe we end up diving back into the QB pool in the first round next season. Might be the guy, might not.  But he'll be set up with a better team that Bryce was when he started.

Or maybe, just maybe, Bryce adds another seven TDs and loses four INTs on the season. Grabs three more wins and maybe a playoff win, maybe two. It's not completely impossible and that'd be great for the team and for him.

We're just going to have to tune in and see how it plays out. Probably won't be boring.

    • I'd like to see the gameday chats come back, especially if you can get it mobile compatible and like those support chats that stay on the screen even when you move around the site. We could use them during CLTFC and Hornets games now too.
