Incarcerated Bob says Miami possible trade partner

I know this trade isn't really comparable since it was from #28 overall to #12 overall, but Miami made a (sorta) similar trade with the Chargers last year.

Chargers got: #12 overall, 4th rounder, 6th rounder

Miami got: #28 overall, #40 overall(2nd rounder), 4th rounder, and a player

figured it was worth noting

ugh man a freaking hate tweets.....they cant they just put a message together in order like every other message program ever....i am always trying to read it figure out who said what

Gantt was first asked this:

Seems like there's a groundswell among analysts for Gabbert to the Panthers. What's your feeling? by James_Dator

He responded with:

That he's not the guy.

He was then asked this:

Does your gut say it's Cam or a defensive player? by Panthers_711

He responded with:

That's precisely what my gut says. That, and it's almost lunch time.

That is not nearly as drastic a value difference as 1 to 15.

As someone said I don't think Miami even has a 2nd. No way this deal gets done. It would take every pick in this draft and a 1st and 2nd next draft and maybe even another 2nd and third in 2013. Not going to happen.

There is always a possibility for a three team trade.

I agree though, the #1 pick will stay with Carolina unless it is 100% guaranteed there will be a rookie wage scale.

But if for some reason it did happen it would be a perfect range to get a guy like Pouncey and secure the interior of our line for the next decade. Think about it Gross, Wharton, Kalil, Poucey, Otah/FA/Draftee wow just wow. Moore would go back to looking like he did at the end of 09 if he had all day to throw and the best running game in the league. Not to mention hes great insurance in case Kalil was to get injured.

you're all assuming the guy was suggesting that they wanted to trade up to number one to get newton. he said that newton was priority #1 for miami and that they were willing to trade up. that doesn't necessarily mean they want (or think they can) trade up to number one, but maybe that they're willing to trade up to number 5 or 6 if he falls beyond buffalo.

Gabbert's in the mix, doesn't mean we draft him though. The actual quote is:

Gantt also isn't always as connected as he thinks he is. I think we're looking at 7-9 players like Hurney and Rivera have said, and we are probably looking to trade down.

I think Gantt is simply basing this off of Rivera's comments on Newton a week or two ago, not any real inside sources or anything. From that point on, Gantt has been beating the "Newton at #1" drum quite a bit. The problem is that Rivera only talked about Newton because he was specifically asked. There was nothing to indicate that he also doesn't think just as highly about any of the other QB's. But Gantt seems to have read too much into it and taken his comments much more to heart than he should have.

If nothing else, Rivera has struck me as a very thorough person, and I simply can't see him locking on to one player this early...particularly before he even has a chance to see the other options live and have a chance to talk with them and see how they respond in front of a whiteboard. Any comments by the team at this point are preliminary at best.

Personally, I think Gantt really likes Newton, and is somewhat hearing what he wants to hear. That doesn't mean it won't be Newton, but I just don't think Rivera & co. have done enough work to lean all that heavily in any direction.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
