So I know we're all excited about our new coach

But has there been any fan base that wasn't ecstatic about their new coaching staff? I wasn't around for the new Fox regime, and I obviously don't follow any other teams all that closely so I don't have a clue. We're all incredibly excited about what Rivera can hopefully do with this team (myself is definitely included in this); I'm just wondering if this is always the case?

haven't really seen a Panther fan that's mad about Rivera

have seen plenty of Bronco fans mad about the Fox hire

I guess it just depends. Most of the time when a new coach is hired, it's because the old coach was bad and the fans are just happy for a change.

I agree. Very few people have a clue about how well he will do.

On paper he is a safe bet

A lot of Dallas fans were "WTF?" about Wade Phillips, and I know some Charger ones who couldn't believe they gave Norv Turner another chance.

I think your supposition is a lot closer to the truth when it's a rookie head coach, for what it's worth, but were there really a lot of Tampa fans excited about Morris?

Everyone's excited when you have a coaching change, but there are objective reasons to be happy.

Worth noting that a load of the people now touting Rivera were on the Jim Harbaugh, Bill Cowher or Jon Gruden bandwagons before his hire. After the first presser, all of those trains pretty much left town.

    • Lil Stanky 100% in the dot tonight... And our 2nd line has been our best offensive line this season. Maybe our 2C really was on the roster this whole time...?
    • That’s a grade I kind of expected tbh. I’m not a huge fan of NS, but he’s not as bad as what the huddle says he is minus the horrible game he had vs the Rams. I’ve always thought he’s often used as a scapegoat. The improved pass rush should hide his deficiencies a little bit better if he’s the game one starter. FS might have to be a position we punt on this year unless Thieneman falls to us at 19. The reality is, you're going to have a few average players in certain spots for a team with as many holes we had before free agency started. You can’t sign everyone.
    • I am by no means trying to say he's a world beater. I'm saying it's trending in the right direction. Especially when measured against himself.i think the team feel the same way or else they wouldn't have picked up his option. Plus I think there is a new idea in the NFL about these young QBs. Teams give up to soon. Browns gave up to soon on baker same with the jets on Geno and darnold. Maybe they are who you thought they were in the draft process and they need more time to develop than you originally planned. Either way. I do think he is as capable as darnold is as far as you can win a championship with him. And something he does have that darnold doesn't is he is clutch.  If I need one more drive and 2 mins to go I'm betting on Bryce and I am far from a homer, just going off his game winning drives. He has that dog in him on the last drive.
