Larry Fitzgerald was 3rd in targets. Steve Smith was 37th.

That isn't a comparable QB situation.....One guy had QBs attempting to get him the ball more than just about everyone in the league......and the other didn't.

maybe smith isnt getting targets as much because he isnt as talented as he was in the past.

Nah, b/c you can break down his numbers w/ Matt Moore as the QB in 2010 and 2009 and Smitty's numbers in those games were comparable w/ the Smitty of old. Sure, he isn't the same guy from 05 but he isn't a shell of that guy like the numbers suggests when he is paired with a Jimmy Clausen.

A broke down Delhomme who could no longer play in 09 and Clausen who refused to target him killed his production. Give Smitty decent QB play.....and he still has it (he proved that in 08, 09, and 10 when the decent QB play was given to him).

    • This And with possibly needing to replace Bryce next year and a deep QB class, I do not hate the idea of moving far enough back to pick up another 1st rounder next year out of the deal. I wouldn't have said that a week ago, but I also never expected us to land 3 big FA's at our 3 biggest positions of need like we have, it totally changes things.
    • The OL has certainly been better than the trainwreck it was three or four years ago. As far as competitiveness let's apply some realism and clarity here. Quite a bit of the competitiveness in 2025 came from the defensive side of the ball which gave up the most points in league history the year before and was one of the bottom 5 units in terms of salary cap allocation for 2025 while the OL was top 3. We had the 26th passing offense last year. And if not for a herculean couple of games from Rico Dowdle we don't back our way into the division title or make the playoffs because we went 4-6 in our final ten games including being swept by the Saints who were starting a rookie 2nd round pick most of us mercilessly mocked when they selected him. In conclusion yes we've seen a difference. The question now is will the investment pay off the way we want. But the only way that happens is if we field a top 15 offense. If we can't even crack the top 20 then there need to be some very warm seats across the board. And I would hope just about anyone here should agree with that.
    • These Spurs are lowkey loaded.  If healthy, they could win it all this year (#2 in the West right now). I still think we’ve gotta keep Kalk on Wemby; he’s not getting completely dominated like every other NBA center.
