Nope you only look at that exact pick. Just like when discussing drafting a DT you can only look at ones who went #1 not top 5.

Makes no sense whatsoever. The vast majority of ASU fans are already Panther fans and nobody would do that for at most, maybe a thousand new fans.......maybe at the VERY most.

Hurney thought he would be a good player so blame him for making a collossal bad pick at that spot but don't blame the kid for being picked.

People don't hate AE.

Most fans hate the draft day trade and selection of AE and the constant defense of the trade by ASU homers with serious Napoleon disorder.

Actually, a number of those have been quite good. Safford, Delmas, Branch, and Ryans are all good.

It does kind of bother me when people call Armanti a bad pick, because we don't know that yet. Common sense should tell you that it will take a while for a guy to learn to play WR in the NFL when he hasn't done it since HS. You can't really judge this kid fairly until after the 2011 season, assuming there is one.

It's a bad pick because we used a 2nd round pick to get a guy that was projected in the 6th or 7th. Sure, projections aren't set in stone, but COME ON a 2nd round pick for someone that was supposed to go that late?! They couldn't have waited and just used our 4th or something on him?? The chances he'd be gone in the 4th are slim to none.

It has been stated and widely rumored that Armanti would have been picked up by another team before our next pick, whether or not that was a "smokescreen" (the new it word around here) by other teams, in an attempt to get the Panthers to reach, is unknown.

However, as many on these very forums argue, if you have scouted a player and have him ranked on your board highly and you really want him, you can't be scared to pull the trigger. Many people on these same boards use this same logic to justify picking their own poster child first pick, despite them not really being a consensus number one pick.

The fact of the matter is, that while some may hate on ASU fans for rabidly defending Armanti or having a "napoleon complex" it can conversely be argued that these haters have a "superiority complex" and simply can't understand how a kid from a small time school, no matter how talented would be drafted above people on their own draft board from BCS schools.

The duality or hypocrisy from the majority of people on this board is ridiculous to say the least.

It wouldn't have mattered if AE had went to So Cal. He was projected as a 4th round or later pick and the Panthers traded a 2nd rounder, knowing that the pick would likely be early in the 2nd round.

It really doesn't even matter if AE turns into the next Josh Cribbs or Michael Vick. The trade for AE was a dumb one.

Simple rule- if you trade with New England, you probably get screwed.
