WTF? Wife drug me up there last weekend. I don't get the fascination with the place. It's all crappy press board furniture and swedish meatballs.

I'm with ya. Most of my gfs love it. I don't get it. Most of it looks cheap as hell.

The meatballs are tasty and some of the organization stuff and kid stuff is alright.

That's why we went. We bought an organizational thing for my sons room and a bag of meatballs.

All 4 wheels on their carts rotate which also pissed me off a bit. I'm used to the traditional shopping cart. I kept running into Swede's and furniture displays.

We have bought some of this line:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30051615

relatively cheap, goes with our stuff and the covers are relatively easy to clean as the kids inevitably spill something on them.

I would like really nice stuff but this stuff is like a placeholder...

You should go to Hickory. I got this Basset couch for $799.

and a Broyhill chair for $150, cant' find a pic of it. On my latest trip they had this chair for $189 I didn't buy it though. http://www.broyhillfurniture.com/Furniture/Living-Room-Furniture/Chadwicks/i102254-Broyhill-Chadwicks-Chair.aspx

It's name brand furniture but discounted.

It's cheap, good quality stuff. I've bought a good bit of small random stuff from there and have been very happy with all of it(coffee table, bookself, etc). The fascination with that place is odd though. I looked at a house last year that had a kitchen that looked like it was straight out of an Ikea catalog.

Oh, and most of the stuff isn't MDF, from what I can tell it's pine or poplar. Sure, it's not honduran mahogany, but it's better than the crap you buy at Target.
