What were you wrong about?

Awesomeness!!

Going back in history (or recently) what were you completely wrong about? Could be a draft pick you wanted that turned out to be a bum, could be a coach you wanted that turned out to be a scrub, could be anything, Panther related that you were completely wrong on.

Ex: "I thought Jimmy Clausen would be a good NFL QB"

Ex: "I thought Jimmy Clausen would at least be a serviceable NFL QB"

EX " I thought there was no way Jimmy Clausen would turn out to be a complete and utter bum"

etc etc..make it fun...

-too early for me to make an evaluation with Clausen although when I first heard his name I went into meltdown, then reconciled myself into thinking he was going to be a Pro-Bowler, back to hating him through the season, and now realizing I overreact to everything.

-I thought Dwayne Jarrett was going to pan out this year, and I though Kenny Moore was going to be a great kick returner for us at one point (wrong, wrong)

-I swear when Drew Brees was a free agent, I wanted him so bad; but knew with Jake we probably weren't going after him (not wrong)

-I thought Jonathan Stewart was a bad pick the moment it happened; thought he was going to be injury prone (kind of is, but I was definitely wrong with that one)

-I thought we should have drafted a Safety the year we drafted Beason- I think the Pats took Merriweather right before us

all in all thank god I'm not our gm; good thread btw

Post draft last year I thought Matt Moore was going to start all season while we groomed young Jimmy Clausen to be the Franchise Quarterback of the future and Steve Smith would be going back to the Pro Bowl. I am now way more depressed than I was before this thread.

Thought Matt Moore was going to continue his 4-1 start. (wrong)

Thought Bernadeau would step his game up. (wrong)

Thought Fiametta would eventually pan out. (right)

Didnt think it would be as bad as it was overall. (wrong)

Edit: I thought Otah might want to play last year. (wrong)

I thought the offensive line of 2009 would translate to the offensive line of 2010.

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
