Mort Tweets QB Wonderlics

Sorry but if we were considering taking Newton because of his intelligence then Hurney is the one who needs to get his IQ checked. After getting kicked out of Florida and then his situation at Auburn I think its safe to say he isn't the brightest bulb on the tree...

Can the guy play football? Yeah...He has a ton of talent. But nobody was thinking this guy was the smartest player in the draft lets be honest.

His ridiculous decision-making and cheating is actually a big turn off to me. I think he could be a really good QB but his decision making has been terrible for the few short years he has been in big time football.

Allegedly.

Plus he didn't get kicked out of Florida. he finished his semester. Passed his classes and transferred.

I would love 11 QBs on the roster, just to increase the chance of us having a franchise QB.

Yeah, that's my thinking... scatter-shot approach and we're bound to stumble on something.

If we can trade a 2nd rounder for a QB turned WR who hardly saw the field, then why can't we draft a QB with each of our first 3 picks in this draft.:D

And I do believe when you look at guys like McNair, Garrard, and McNabb's scores it is safe to say that the tests are culturally/racially biased as I suggested earlier.

I'm convinced Jawalrus went into the test and closed his eyes and started filling in circles to get a 24.

Wonderlic scores tend to help you understand how players analyze complex information quickly and as such they can be helpful. If I had 2 players with similar physical attributes and intangibles then the wonderlic if more than 10 points apart (5 questions) would be a factor. But if I were deciding how important they were compared to other factors such as arm strength, leadership skills, athleticism, football savvy, etc The wonderlic would not be that important.

Think of it this way. It is like the SAT test. If all things are equal it helped to break the tie. But it would be less important than grades, GPA, honor /AP classes, etc. The SAT shows how much knowledge you possesss, the grades and GPA show how you apply the knowledge you possess. Likewise the Wonderlic shows how well you analyze unique situations quickly. Watching film and game performance tell you whether you have the physicals skills and ability to play in the NFL. Together they show you how quickly you will pick things up or think on your feet.

Ahh, good old "Cam Nut Huggers" reference. You're 2 pages too late.

TBH, I've actually been more surprised with the amount of positivity regarding his score because I expected a 25+ from him. So it's disappointing. But, I think what the optimistic people are saying is that his score didn't help him, but it didn't hurt him either - it was just good enough.

What was Matt Moore's wonderlic?

And I'm officially off the Newton bandwagon. Sucks, I hoped he was a smart kid. Apparently, he's not. Now you have the red flags of character (laptop thing), experience (one-year wonder), spread offense, and below average wonderlic.

Pass.

I don't believe Moore ever took one, as he didn't get invited to the combine. I wouldn't put too much stock into Wonderlics anyway. Either way, nice to have you on the winning side.

Meh, all this really means is the Panthers pick isn't as valuable as it was a few days ago.
