This is an article about the shots that kevin burnette took at rodger goodell...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6229285

With the comments from Petersen and now this it's amazing to me how detached these guys are from reality. He talks about getting fined for doing drugs or not being an "upstanding citizen"...uh, who here works somewhere that if you fail a drug test you get fired? How many of you work somewhere that if you get a DUI you get fired or at the very least punished? These guys have no clue what real life is like bc most of them have always had people bending over backwards for them...from high school to the pros. I love what goodell has done and I love his message to players.

Goodell's full of it. He's a liar. You're a blatant liar. 'It's our league, it's we, we love the players, we want the league,' but what have you done for the players? What have you done, in all honesty, to improve the game, besides fine guys, besides take money away from guys, besides change a game that you've never played? ... He's done nothing to improve the game.

Put the cry baby doing a construction job or some other type of manual labor. I'll bet he'd change his tune REAL QUICK!!

I don't get this comments on 'taking the money' wtf? but I do agree on these dumba*ss rule changes it's getting ridiculous .

The rule changes were to promote player safety, aka what the players bitch and moan about.

Then they change their tune saying they would rather have players injured for bad hits because they dont want to be fined.

Im still behind the players. I can understand the owners point of view also but I think this could have been handled entirely better from the start. The "take our league back" , billion dollars, 18 game , reduce percentage offer was a slap in the face as far as initial proposals. There way it started there was no way this deal was going to be done peacefully. Everyone involved played a part in this though.

Eh that objection was ridiculous. He's making rule changes because of recent research done on concussions. The line between dangerous and acceptable is becoming clearer. The only reason he's 'taking money from the players' is because of these new rules. I can see the 18 game season thing contradicting with player safety, but that's not the point that was raised. A bit harsh imo.

I don't buy the "18 games is a hazard to player safety" line at all. How much did injuries go up when the season went to 16 games? Is 18 the magic number where people's bones and joints crumble into dust? I think it's ridiculous. And sure they should include the extra 2 weeks worth of work into the pay. When it goes to 18 games, the contracts should go up by roughly 1/9th.

And the argument I've heard about record books...there couldn't possibly be a lamer excuse. They already did it in the 70s when they extended it to 16 games. There's no legitimate reason why they can't do it again 40 years later. It'll just be the beginning of another new era. It's time for one anyway. People already say "well it was a different league back then. There's more focus on passing now, the elite RB is dying, blahblahblah". Time to mark another crossroads in the history of the NFL. Let the new era of the NFL begin.

Most teams play starters 3 quarters in the 3rd preseason game and 1 quarter in the 4th preseason game so we are really only talking about adding 60 more minutes of football with an 18 game season.

As a fan, preseason game tickets cost the same as the normal game tickets so I'd rather see a game that counts.

I love the game of football and do appreciate safety measures that are enforced for the players. I believe they should have the best health care . What I simply do not understand is how people who who are paid millions of $$ for a job they enjoy with all the other perks, feel they are entitled to and demand a percentage of the owners profit. Yes it is a contact sport that could result in injury, but it is a job. Police Officers and Firemen's lives are on the line everyday, should they demand a percentage of Municipal collection? Guys it is your chosen profession and compared to most of us you are paid well to do it. If you don't think so check the employment section. Play Ball!!!!
