John Fox had never developed dick on the offensive side of the ball his entire career here. He gets shellacked when his teams can't physically dominate opponents-see the opener against the Eagles in 2009. He ran the most rudimentary offense in the league and watching him try to call a game when forced him out of his comfort zone was like watching my grandma, God rest her soul, try to use a computer. Why are people sticking up for him like he has a keen eye for talent all of a sudden? I mean he was one of the better coaches around when he could play his game but he just got embarrassed when that didn't work.

Whether or not Clausen or Edwards actually suck is a separate but overlapping issue.

They're right about that pick being gold. With the break between rounds that spot usually gets a ton of trade offers. You can net a mid 2nd and 3rd easily, maybe even a future 1st rounder if some team wants a guy enough. Not to mention there's almost always 1st round talent sitting there at the top of the 2nd. All that for a huge project small school late round prospect changing positions. :arf:

Oh wow he utilized a guy who was developed by another coaching staff already. Jake Delhomme had been in the league for 5 years when Carolina picked him up and he had the exact same skillset and issues then as he did in 2008 when he flamed out. Is that a real argument? Jake is pure diamond in the rough (if you want to use that cliche) material. It's not like they crafted some castoff into Peyton Manning.

Let's talk about all the quarterbacks and wide receivers drafted by the Panthers that Fox and his staff developed, not RBs which require the least work of any college player to transition. That's kind of what I was getting at :). As Raging Bull remarked, a duo of first round RBs producing is hardly anything surprising.

Also Williams and Stewart were the first tandem to hit 1100 yards in a single season. There are plenty of tandems that have reached the 1000 yard mark.

Also as for Jake I'm sure you remembered that when the coaching staff finally started screwing with his throwing motion and mechanics, he actually got worse, right?

I'd say its necessary to wait until after the next full season before you pass judgment on a young kid who was hung out to dry this past year.

The kid has the athleticism and football ability to excel at this level, just needs coaching and persistence to get him there.

I don't believe this BS about Fox refusing to coach a player. He's a bigger man than that, regardless of what some fans think or what some "insider" ( AKA, Marty Hurney) said.

And as far as him being more outspoken...he has always been that way in the off season. Have none of you ever listened to his off season interviews before? He is like this every single year on "Moving The Chains". It's only when the season starts that he clams up to reporters. How in the hell can any Panthers fan not know that by now?

It's not BS it's been reported a couple places. If your right then where was his ass when they were drafted??? This "Bigger Man" didn't even show up for the PC after the 1st day of the draft. When has Fox ever not been at a Draft day PC in 9 years???

You know what is funny. Some of you talk about if Fox had his way then Jimmy or AE wouldn't be drafted. It also is a good guess that if he had his way Jake would still be here throwing 20 int's in a panther uni.

Maybe you should listen too Jerry sometimes because he was right. Fox had a hard on for keeping old player around and not knowing when too cut the cord. Example Dwill and D foster, D foster and S davis, Jake and Matt Moore (cost us the playoffs) Richard Marshall and Ken lucas. Would have rode Mike Minter death if Mike didn't retire.

Steve Smith wasn't drafted by Fox he develop under George Seifert crew.

The panthers had the most pass plays that went for 40+ yards in the entire league back in 2003. Entering the playoffs, the panthers were the most balanced team offensively in the league.

That being said...pretty sure that is what offensive cords are for.

But, don't let me stop the hating game.
