A.J. Green...Number-1 to Panthers?

Meh, not the choice I'd like but I wouldnt be upset with the pick. It would show me that they're atleast trying to do something about the offense. As long as it's not Dareus, Fairley, or any of them other defensive players, I'll be okay. I'd prefer Cam or Gabbert, though.

If we go offense, I would prefer AJ Green I think, especially if Smitty wants to go. Still going to need a veteran of some kind in there if he does I think but man we could have a killer WR corps if Smith stays.

Yea, if green lives up to the hype (which im almost certain he will granted I played along side him in hs and saw how he takes games over first hand) and smitty stays, we'd be looking at WR1 AJ Green WR2 David Gettis/Brandon Lafell/Smitty (on downs where we are in I formation with no slot receiver) and Smith in the slot where he will be best utilized, like welker in NE.

Everyone hates on Clausen, thinks he will never develop into a serviceable NFL QB, but his performance was only 1 year so far in which he never had a chance to prove he was worth our 2nd round pick. I'm not a fan of Jimmy myself prefer Moore to be the starter, but answer me this, what if we draft QB with our first pick and he fails miserably like Jimmy did his first year, how will everyone be reacting come draft time next year?

Answer:

Haters-Cam/Blaine obviously was not the answer, and can never be a franchise QB in this league, we wasted our first overall pick on a bum!!!

Huggers-Well it was Cam/Blaine's rookie season, usually all rookies go through the struggling stage, Cam/Blaine just needs 1 or 2 seasons under their belt and eventually will become our franchise QB that we desperately need. (Not all rookie QB's adjust well to the pro game like Rapelisberger, Ryan, Flacco etc.) Which brings up the point of maybe we should give Clausen another chance to see if he can improve, before we bail on him and end up taking a potential bust QB with that 1st pick.

Drafting Green would make an overpowering WR core. Moore should be able to work with that pretty well. Smitty will still probably be the designated #1 though. AJ would still be a rookie.

I think as far as drafting Green goes it depends on what Hurney thinks of Armanti Edwards. He seems to really believe that he can be special. Drafting Green and keeping Smith puts AE on the back burner. They would have to decide on that first I think.

Man, i'll be honest. Smith/Green/Gettis/Lafell should be able to make even Clausen look good if we also have a running game of any quality. Moore will look like it's '09 again, if not better.

I'm liking that idea more and more, but I still think we have much bigger holes at DT and probably CB.

This is the way to go. I have seen all Green's games this year for Georgia.

He runs great routes, has great soft hands, can go up over most defensive

backs and has a smooth deceptive stride. He would be our best receiver

This would be a good move and give Clausen another year at least.

Receiver is the same as quarterback for us.

Young enough already. No need to get even younger.

It is different. WR adds another much needed weapon. QB doesn't add anything because you can only play 1 QB.

It also adds yet another young guy to a group that has less than a year's experience between them, and likely necessitates getting rid of the one guy in the bunch who actually does have any seasoning.

We spent three draft picks on receiver last year. If we need a new receiver, it should be a free agent, not another young'un.

It has nothing to do with youth. It has everything to do with talent. Guys like Dez Bryant and Mike Williams dominated from day one. AJ Green is better than both.

Its not about getting younger. Green is a prototype #1 receiver. Do we think lafell or gettis is? How much longer can smitty go? Plus contract wise it makes sense. Green as our number 1 after smitty is gone, and come contract time for gettis and lafell re-sign the one worth the #2 money. Obviously I've supported this idea all along

Yeah we can get rid of Edwards, that was just a stupid pick and he has not contributed anything, so that pick is irrelevant now since it was garbage.

WR's can dominate from day one, unlike rookie QB's. If you have the chance to grab a Randy Moss, Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald from day 1 you need to do it. Great QB's don't dominate atleast until their 3-4th year while WR's can from day 1. It has nothing to do with youth esp at the WR position.

    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
