Can't depend on Palmer.

I dont know why people on this board believe that we have the best shot in the world to get Palmer. He probably wouldnt even want to come here. Im just saying there other places he might consider to be best for him to go maybe like the Vikings the dolphins. Maybe a couple of other teams I dont know. I cant recall an outside FA the Panthers went after and lost out on (not that it hasn't happened). Considering he'd have to be acquired via trade, he can't be quite as persnickety about where he goes.

that being said, i don't want palmer...he's not the player he was before that injury in the playoffs a few years ago...i don't think he'll take us to a super bowl...i could be wrong and maybe he just needs to get out of that situation in cincy but i would rather draft a QB and groom him

Carolina is an ideal location for a functional QB. (ESPN might not say that but all the other pieces are there for the most part). Upgrade in FA at a few spots but the team is solid.....QB play has just brought the perception of talent down b/c of Jake in 09 and Clausen in 10.

Yea I agree with you. He is under contract and would cost alot of money .Coming here would be a far cry from a day at the beach and the guy is OK but is inconsistant.If we are going to spend alot of money let get something out of it.

I don't see the Panthers as the worst team in the NFL. Of course they were last year but they have never been terrible in consecutive seasons and every several years are a good to better than good team. I don't think other players and informed people in the league think about them in terms of a bad franchise to be with.

I know we don't have much at QB, but I really don't like the idea of trading anything for Carson Palmer... I think his arm is used up and he'd be Jake 2.0 at this point.

That is the bottom line. Cincy didn't let Chad Johnson leave and they won't let Palmer. It isn't that they don't want value for him simply that if they cave to Palmer, there will more guys doing it next year. They are drawing a line in the sand and won't budge.

The Panthers are a bottom third Franchise in terms of success

In 16 seasons we have won the NFC south 3 times.

We have had 4 winning seasons. 3 out of every 4 seasons we are .500 or below.

a Superbowl appearance save us but that's about it.

If you are satisfied with the Panthers then you are setting the bar pretty low.

I like palmer but i agree with an earlier post. I think he's never been the same since his injury a few seasons back.
