Gabbert has great memory..

Heaven forbid a Gabbert thread! Oh noes..

“He’s almost got a photographic memory,” she says over the phone from the family house just outside St. Louis.

This is the attribute that might just take Gabbert far in his pursuit to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. He already has those other things the NFL desires: standing 6-foot-5 with the ability to fling the ball three-quarters of the field in the air. But it is his mind that might push him farther, for in the complex world of football offenses little matters more than memory.

Once you say it to him it is set in stone,” says David Yost, University of Missouri offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. “His ability to process the information is amazing. You give it to him, he retains it.

And the reports that have trickled back to Missouri where Gabbert played quarterback are that he has dazzled with his ability to decipher offenses. And it is probably the biggest reason he has risen as a junior who left college early to one of the top two quarterbacks taken in next week’s NFL draft.

    • I have no strong opinion either way. I mean, for those who are out, do you really expect Tepper to hire anyone better? So far, Canales has probably been his best coaching hire. Granted, that's an extremely low bar to clear but I'm just saying it's not like there's a line of great candidates beating down the door begging to work for Tepper. Going 5-5 with the worst QB play in the league isn't terrible. Now with that said, I expect to start getting the hell beaten out of us now that the Saints have shown what I thought was obvious all along - sell out against the run and stack the box and absolutely force us to have to throw the ball and it basically makes the game unwinnable for a Bryce Young QB'd team.
    • You're letting your hatred for him cloud your judgement, you can't say with 100% certainty that Bryce can't play anywhere else, especially since everyone here said the same about Darnold and Mayfield and are now backtracking to say "well they had the skills all along"... absolutely nobody was saying that at the time. You are forgetting that the Panthers are currently a poverty franchise that taints everything they touch, it is absolutely in the realm of possibility that Bryce sits for a few years and then looks like Mac Jones does right now. But I agree that it won't happen here, and the Panthers have to move on.
    • That was me. Overall it has tightened up. Kickoffs are good. FGs are good normally. Punting game is good. PR isn’t bad. I didn’t see what happened on the block, who let the guy through. I knew we were putting a couple of new guys out there but thought they we gunner types. Chisena.
