Rob Chudzinski Attacking Offense..

I been in a process of going back over film with a couple of teams that Rob Chudzinski coach the offensive side of the ball with. Going back into 2001 to 2003 with Rob was with the Miami Hurricanes. He had a very very attacking offense witch was very big, fast, and decent Quarterback play. I notice in his offense he always had a big Reciever he always had a good TE and his offensive was so explosive. His offense put up alot of numbers with the weapons that he had. What this has to do with the panthers is I think with Ron Rivera as the Head coach is going to give Chud the opportunity to be able to put together and great offense that will be able to put points on the board. I also believe Chud will have a huge say so with Rivera and Marty Hurney decision on who we should draft for the offensive side of the ball.

I am inclined to agree that Chud will have much say in who they draft (if the go offense). I also have seen Chud do A LOT with less at the QB position. He made Derek Anderson into a pro bowl QB.. I am wondering if he can do the same with Pickles..

Agreed. We're not going to the playoffs this season. Give Clausen a shot at learning the offense and playing behind a healthy line with healthy RB's and lets see where we stand in the 2012 season. If Clausen bombs this year, move on and get someone next year but take Dareus and shore up our middle and this #12 defense from last season who was on the field all season long, can be a top 5 under Rivera.... or better!

I am SO FUGGIN' EXCITED about this new offensive scheme. I grew up a chargers fan and loved watching Dan Fouts throw the ball down the field. We have been so bland and vanilla for the last few years. I can't wait until we get it installed and running like a well oiled machine over the next couple of years. We just need one or two final pieces of the puzzle and we will be loaded on both sides of the ball.

Rivera and Chud could very well build a dominate team over the next decade!

I don't want disregard Chud's coaching abilities completely (I was and am happy with his selection as OC) but his biggest success was with the Miami Hurricanes when they were completely loaded.

I'm not saying that I could coach on Chud's level and win a National Championship with me as the OC BUT you could have plugged in Zod as the playcaller and the Hurricanes would have won more games than they lost.

One of the characteristics of a Chud offense is a big WR. Andre Johnson in Miami, Vincent Jackson in San Diego and Braylon Edwards in Cleveland. We have the quick running backs he likes to use and now have one of his all time favorite TE. But Smitty isn't the big target that Chud likes to use nor does LaFell have the speed Chud likes. So Gettis has the heighth and speed to be a #1 target in this offense but he will have to put on some more mass to his body frame.

The interesting note in looking at Chud, he has had success with three different styles of QB. No matter what happens in the draft, it looks like Chud can work with whoever and probably find more success in the system based on the talent surrounding the QB more so than the QB himself. I think there is a really good chance Derek Anderson starts the season as the Panther's QB based more on the fact he already has ran Chud's system than anything else and then the overall success will lie more with the performance of the WR, TE, RB and offensive line more so than who is under center.

Obviously this is what you hope Hurney will do. I hope he doesn't. I like Dareus a lot but hope we don't pin our hopes on clausen and Moore alone. If they don't improve and they suck again, it was the FOs fault to not upgrade the position. The only way they aren't on the field all day is improve the offense. With another Qb option I don't know if it will. If we are not going to the playoffs anyway, then draft Newton, let Clausen and Moore start and see what they have. In any case next year Newton has a year of experience, Clausen and Moore will either show they can get it done or will be on the way out. Either way our Qb situation will be better than it is now or would be without drafting someone.

I dont think Derek Anderson will get sign to Carolina. To be honest. But yeah Chud does like Big explosive Reciever. Thats why AJ Green or julio could be in play for Carolina. We need alot of pieces in order to be a playoff team. Im not saying we need to go and get a TE DE or safety. But we Need key pieces DT, QB,WR, CB pieces of that type. But If Carolina wants to go key Cam Newton maybe the choice and he probably would fit in Chud system well.

Thing is, DA spent two years under Chud as the starter... One of those years was really good. (year 1) The other was really, really bad. (year 2)

DA isn't a very good option, to get a decent QB this year... You have to wait till the CBA mess is dealt with and spend a ton on a short term option ( Palmer) or an option that doesn't fit the team (Kolb).... Draft one (most likely situation) or dive into the crappy QB fa market....

I'd say there's a better chance he does it with Moore before Clausen. But I am excited to see what he can do with Cam Newton.

So we've seen the offensive staff hired, and seen that every single member of the offensive staff has a direct connection to either Norv Turner or Ernie Zampese. Obviously, that includes the offensive coordinator, Rob Chudzinski and - the guy with the most direct connection of all - Offensive QC Scott Turner (Norv's son).

With that in mind, all signs point to this year's offensive attack being a form of the Coryell offense. That's the style of offense that Chudzinski worked with under Turner. Turner learned it from Zampese, and Zampese from Coryell himself (with a little help from a fella named Joe Gibbs).

Worth noting that this will actually be the second time that a Coryell guy has coordinated the Panthers of late. The previous one was another coach with a Joe Gibbs association.

Without going into too much detail, what Jeff Davidson ran the last few years wasn't the same attack as was run under Henning. So you could say that, in a way, we're going "backward" as far as our choice of offense.

But if that bothers you, it shouldn't.

Are we running the same offense as was run under early Foxball? Yes, but it's not being run by the same people. Rivera isn't Fox, Chudzinski isn't Henning, and the "Mike" who coaches our quarterbacks has a last name of Shula, not McCoy.

The principles behind it are the same, and the terminology will likely be similar. I'd expect a pretty strong imprint from Norv Turner because both Rivera and Chudzinski are big Turner fans.

The attitude behind it will indeed be aggressive and attacking (two of Rivera's favorite words) and another 'a' word, adaptable. Those are definite departures from the way Fox wanted an offense run.

I know pretty much everyone wants to leave all vestiges of "Foxball" behind. Afraid this particular aspect isn't going away, but don't take that to mean things are going to look the way they used to.

Yes, we moved back from the new car to the old car, but we also got a new driver, so don't expect the ride to be quite what it used to :D
