Shake up at the top of the draft?

Based on what I heard this past weekend, there's a growing skepticism among NFL coaches, GMs and scouts that Carolina chooses quarterback Cam Newton with its first draft choice.

He could be right. I can honestly say that I have never been convinced that this is the direction we are going even though i want us to draft Newton.

I personally think that we will pick Cam, and while I am not happy about it, I will support him and the team.

The problem this year, is there really is no clear cut no. 1 overall pick, to me. Now if Hurney thinks that Cam or PP is the clear cut no. 1 then so be it.

If it's true that Hurney badly wants to trade down.. that means he does not have a conviction about either QB at the top of the draft. As much I like Gabbert, I don't think we take him, nor Cam Newton.

The draft is Thurs...I would suspect they know who they are drafting pending a CBA isn't reached and they get some mindblowing offer.

Trading out is the best case scenario. Hell, we could trade out to one of the other top 5 or 6 picks and still have a chance at Blaine Gabbert if we wanted him.

This actually sounds like to me that they like a quarterback that would be available possibly late first or early second. That way, they can trade down a few spots, take a guy of value, then turn around and grab the QB they want later. I don't think they want Newton even if they do stay at 1, but they DO want someone else.

i really wouldnt be mad at locker and aj green but thats pretty impossible and after reading the write up his reasons suck and he is just blowing smoke

A little pet peeve of mine...reading the comments why does everyone assume that were gonna get the first draft pick next year? Were not gonna be good but the last team to get back to back first picks were the Browns and that was over 10 years ago. Im in the Dareus camp but when people say that we can get Luck with the first pick next year I want to punch something cute.

I'm beginning to think we don't take him either. It just doesn't feel like a pick Hurney would make, and I think it's too much of a risk at that spot.

And as much as I hate Clausen, I'm beginning to change my mind a bit on Cam. I wouldn't be upset if we took him, but I personally think it may be too risky for the #1.
