Shake up at the top of the draft?

When has a team ever mentioned before the draft who they wanted to take?

It would be a change up of huge proportions.

the texans and mario williams... i am pretty sure the rams did last year with Sam Bradford but they have the ability to start working out a contract with these players thats a luxury we do not have.

Didn't that come out late the night before the draft?

And I don't remember Bradford being announced until the draft day, but I could be wrong.

IMO the Texans pick of Mario is much like us taking Dareus, it was seen as a huge shake up.

Much like us right now with Cam, every talking head in the media was saying that Bush was the pick. Then came the shake up that Judge is talking about in this article, and they chose Williams.

It has been pretty much written in stone for the past couple of weeks that we are taking Cam, he is mentioning the very real possibility of a huge shake up, ala 2006.

Usually there is some consensus from a club with the number one pick; this close to the draft. I can only assume a split in Panther camp over who to take. Don't know who is in whose camp, maybe Hurney wants to give Clausen another chance or JR doesn't like Cam. Perhaps its Rivera who would prefer a d-lineman like Dareus. Does seem that the Panther brain-trust has its Cam lovers and those who would pass. I personally think Hurney would love to get a decent deal to trade down and take the Cam choice off his plate.

I bet he would.....but I think Hurney deserves this pick. Hurney is starting to put some years in here and his job in recent history deserves a fair amount of critcism. This is pretty much a hit or miss selection for him and that could determine his fate here.......

Agreed, after Brown, Edwards and Clausen; if he fails with Newton selection, it could cost him his job and not just sleep like the recent King article talked about.

Based on what I heard this past weekend, there's a growing skepticism among NFL coaches, GMs and scouts that Carolina chooses quarterback Cam Newton with its first draft choice.

Not good news :(

If nobody else that wants him takes the prospect of our drafting him seriously, they're not gonna make any trade offers.

(at least not to us)
