The Panthers Cant take Newton

Although I don’t want the team to draft Cam I can see why they might. The kid is a winner and has the drive to continue to try to win, you can’t teach that. Another thing I like is that he is a great athlete and at least be able to see over our front line. They have showed a few of his games on ESPN lately (I wonder why) and I noticed that even when he starts to take off and run he keeps his eyes down field looking for the pass.

Now the reasons I didn’t want him, he takes off to soon, not sure how he will transition to an under center QB, he throws off his back foot a lot or follow through with the pass. But the biggest problem I have is what kind of influence will his father be on him now that he has made it to the big time and has all that money.

Now see if you could put those ears on Newton, then I might be able to support him. His ears are just too small to be an NFL QB. I mean how is he supposed to hear Chud yell "36" over all the screaming fans?

(waits for KT to take this post seriously)

Dude haters are out in droves tonight. They are in full meltdown mode. They been trying to conjure up trade threads out of thin air, making threads saying "we can't take him nooooo", and are hoping Nelson's ruling will make us not take him bc Manning may be a FA.

Yeah partial meltdown has begun and I expect full nuclear meltdown tomorrow if we pick him.

lol dude get hold of yourself. Those nerves must really be kickin if the paranoia and defense mechanisms are already goin off.

And nobodies hating man. Laying down facts about some guys agent is a far cry away from hating. I like Cam, like I said in other posts. I just happen to like two other guys more. I didnt know that was a crime.

no you're right

we'd be much better off with the boring DT that isn't really worth taking at no.1 when we can address it top of the 3rd or lol taking a cornerback at 1 lol

Cam Newton is rated no higher than 15 on ANY expert Big Boards (evaluating the talent...not a mock draft). Hell, he is rated in the 40's by many.

The moment that you start reaching to fill a need like that, you have already lost the game. Deperate and crappy franchises make moves like this.

The Panthers are going to struggle next season no matter who we pick at #1. The talent at QB is MUCH, MUCH better in next year's draft.

Say we pick Cam. Even the Huggers (most anyway) believe that he needs at least a season to learn to play the position in the NFL. So, we are picking top 5 next year.....have no idea whether Cam is the bust that many believe or the superstar that many believe. Therefore, you CANNOT take a top QB in a good class.

Then, Cam struggles to learn a complex pro offense (like many experts believe he will).

You have just set this franchise back 6-8 years.

You take a flyer on an athlete that could develop into something in the latter rounds. You do NOT take flyers on guys that you HOPE can learn the position and get it at #1 overall.

If we make this leap, this will go down as a MUCH, MUCH worse gamble than the Armanti deal ever will.

My 13 yo son is a winning QB too. And quite frankly, he runs a more complex offense than the one Cam ran at Auburn.

I think the big risk for the FO is that if Cam fails that will likely put a big mark on Rivera's coaching career and may very well end Marty's tenure as GM. It goes beyond a simple success vs bust. #1 pick has to be a success for us, Marty has no room for failure on this one.

can your son win in the SEC, and a NC?

And the guy from the Dallas paper who is respected around the league has him as the 6th prospect on his big board.

It's happening. About time to start accepting reality, folks.

Reality is when they actually call his name.

Until then, I'm sticking with Mario Williams > Reggie Bush.

They made the right pick then, and I am confident we will do the same tonight and take Dareus. In 5 years, we'll be saying: Dareus > Newton.
