Cardinals may have first dibs on Marc Bulger

“A lot of people in the league feel the Cardinals already have an understanding with pending free agent Marc Bulger,” writes Pasquarelli. “The Cardinals would have liked to sign Bulger last year, and coach Ken

Whisenhunt lobbied for a deal, but Arizona had already agreed with Derek Anderson and management didn’t see a way to bring in two veterans.”

Having “an understanding” with a player is different than speaking to that player, who in this case is technically still a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

So this presumably wouldn’t be tampering.

But it does sound like it could come awfully close.

this is why you draft Cam.....b/c Bulger and Kolb (who actually doesn't have a better resume than Moore) are deemed the FA/trade answers.

What if we draft Cam, sign Bulger, and go Bulger\Cam\Clausen as our QB's next year? One way or the other, I think a vet should be signed and Bulger isn't a bad option.

that would be fine....that is about all you can get out of someone like Bulger. Carolina will need to find that old QB when they draft Cam. Bulger isn't an answer but he could help hand the keys over.

cards will go after some vet and run a spread offense. it worked with warner pretty well. i actually see them bringing in mcnabb, but i wouldn't be surprised to see bulger there. easy and cheap solution. i just don't see them going after a young Qb...esp. drafting one.

Yeah, if we do draft Cam, we HAVE to sign a vet to teach him. Moore and Clausen have nothing they can help Cam with. Nothing. Jimmy sucked out loud, but if he had had a vet to tutor him last year maybe he would've done a TAD better. If we draft Newton and do the same with him, it'll only hurt the kid.

as long as the vet stayed on the sidelines i'd be happy. for sure newton needs an experienced set of eyes carrying the clipboard to help him know what to look for...but i think the whole mentor QB thing is a bit overrated. teaching and mentoring is the job of the coaches. any coach worth a crap will be enough to help a player get where they need to be if that player is at all capable of reaching their potential.

Coaches are older, coaches have a certain method, and coaches have other duties.......you can't put all that on just a QB coach. Old vets can help in the film room, practice field, after practice, etc. when coaches aren't always around. Plus, current football players relate different w/ players.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
    • Totally possible imo, I also caught that snippet from Morgan where he said “If” we sign him. The lack of competition says otherwise tho 🤷‍♂️
