Taken a Defensive Player helps the Offense How?

How does a Project QB who is standing on the sidelines holding a clipboard make our offense better?

If we draft Cam and he starts this year....we will ABSOLUTELY be picking #1 next season.

Even the Cam Lovers agree that this kid needs a year or two to learn to play the position in the NFL.

I just don't think we will pick him if they think he needs to sit a few years. Whether they're right or not, we'll have to see. Ultimately, if we pass on him, they must not have thought he is ready to make an impact this coming season.

How does Cam make the offense better exactly? Does he somehow make Gettis and LaFell more experienced WR's? Does he make the line block better? Does he make Otah healthy? Does his presence make Armanti Edwards a productive WR?

Besides that he will likely have such a growing period that we won't even know if he's good for a year, maybe several years.

A lot of the poo that went down last year was not the QB's fault. That includes Clausen but not as much as Moore because it was painfully obvious that Clausen was playing scared or was told to by Fox.

The new coaching staff and the new offense is going to benefit our guys in many ways.

The better question is would Cam or AJ help our offense this year? Receivers typically take 2-3 years to learn the offense. I don't believe there has ever been a 1,000 yard rookie receiver. There isn't a person on this Earth that thinks Cam is ready to play his rookie year. Reality is we will have to go free agency whether or not we draft either of these guys to improve our offense in 2011. Dareus and Peterson are ready to start tomorrow. This is why you pick either of those players.

I could sit here and post numerous examples of teams that improved their terrible offense drastically without taking an offensive player with their first pick but I feel like it's just a giant waste of time since Newton is 99% going to be the pick and all of you would just ignore it anyways

All he was in college all he'll be here. He's not a disruptive force, he's not a pass rusher. He's just solid up front, we can find solid up front in later rounds.

I was in Austin a year and a half ago. Ask anyone in that room if he was disruptive or not. Personally, I thought it was great.

how little you know....

Nah my man, its as simple as this he's not the player Suh was (who went 2nd behind a QB no less). His stats do not compare, I'm not saying he won't be good but he doesn't possess the potential to take our team to another level defensively.

We can get a DT in the 3rd or later who is a load to free-up our edge rushers. Possibly via free agency as well, what we cannot draft or sign via free agency is a talent like Cam. That's the type of opportunity you can't pass up.

Please no Dareus. If we draft a defensive player it better be Peterson.

This IS the only defensive player I'd be ok with.

I think it maybe AJ.

If we go defense(and as smart as a Dareus selection would be) the FO is going to piss a lot of fans off, maybe even some players and I can't help but think that there are some outside pressures affecting Hurney's decision. I mean I know that the draft party is a PR move to get the fans involved again. But the dude on wfnz might be onto something. You don't just hold a party like that for a DT. Either that or the FO genuinely cares about the fans and just wants them involved no matter who the pick is.

We picked Clausen last year. Smith probably has a 60/40 chance of leaving. Dareus makes the most sense, Green is the compromise pick I think.
