We might trade to get in the 2nd

I'd like to, but I don't want to get raped like the Falcons did.

i don't think there's anybody left who's so appealing Hurney would want to trade up most of a round to get, and I don't think he's gonna dangle our 2012 first rounder in other GMs' faces. Bowers is just too much of a concern to even consider at this point, it's sad but what are you going to do. However say if there's someone who plays a position of need with a first round grade still on the board in the second half of the 2nd, it's likely he'll be willing to barter

While I wouldn't mind the move up if it came at a decent price. I just don't see that happening after today's trades.

Both Atlanta and NO gave up a lot to move up in the draft this year and I look for that trend to continue through day 2 at least.

I expect that it will take at least 3 picks to move up into the second for a team in Carolina's position. I'd say a 2nd rounder next year, then this years third and 5th round picks to make the move into the second round.

The talent is definitely there to make it worth while, you have some highly rated impact players still left on the defensive side of the ball. There's also the fact that there are still a few highly rated 1st/ high second round QB's including Ryan Mallet and Andy Dalton still left on the board.

Teams like NE and Cleavland know this and will be asking for quite a bit to trade back, so while I would love for Carolina to make the move to get a big time DT or CB prospect. I just don't see it happening because of the cost to make such a move.

Maybe they can trade for another guy who can help us as much as Edwards, Brown, Jarrett, or Shelton. Hurney has a great track record of making these trades. I'm sure the other GM's have his number on speed dial when the draft rolls around so they can take advantage of him.

I think that's what it would take to move into the top 10 picks of the 2nd round. And if we can get Paea, Austin, Rudolph, or a very good CB (whoever it may be, Harris/Williams/whoever) I think it's worth it.

I expect Mallett and Dalton AND possibly Kaepernick to be gone in the first 5 or so picks, so I don't think their availability will be driving up prices where we'd be looking to trade into.

Wouldn't really want to move into the bottom of the 2nd unless we can do it relatively cheap, like giving up our 6th or something, cuz at the top of the 3rd we might as well wait...

The conversation about the 2nd 3rd pick is moot because the 4th round pick is essentially a 3rd...

Don't know if I'd package them both to move to 2nd and keep the comp pick (end of 3rd)/

I'd give our 3rd and 4th this year to move into the 10-20 range of the 2nd in a heartbeat.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
