What it's going to take

Yeah I remember, but someone this year pounded us with it like no other and it just felt helpless to watch.

Although back when Vick did it, tbh, I actually never felt that scared about him running on us when he was with ATL... It seemed like we did a fairly good job of controlling that back then, especially after we got TD.

But, I'm telling you... whoever that was this year, that was really difficult to watch.

You have got to be fuging kidding me.

Vick slaughtered us with his ability to scramble.

Time will tell.

Truthfully, Rivera and Newton aren't the only ones that need to be patient. Fans should too.

We've got the shiny new toy, and everybody wants to play with it. Problem is playing with this toy too soon voids the warranty, so that's an urge everyone needs to resist.

So why wasn't we patient with Clausen? I don't like the pick still, but I've come to terms with it and will support Newton. My problem is we didn't give Clausen a fair shake. Lame duck coaching staff + 3/5 starters gone off o-line = disaster.

The words "fans" and "patience" are most commonly joined by the phrase "don't have any".

Clausen isn't gone yet, and I wouldn't assume that he will be.

Nor should he be gone. If anything, we now see what he's made of. If he succeeds, we have a great trading piece. If he doesn't, would it be fair to assume the 2010 draft was largely a bust, just because he didn't pan out (and we took Newton the very next year)?

This is a junction in Clausen's career. He can guide his future more so than ever.

The writing is on the wall, Scotty.

You don't take a huge gamble on a character with as many red flags as Newton if you think Clausen has a future with your franchise.
