Round 7: Lee Ziemba

I know from watching the games.

Having a QB who not only can't be tackled, but can't be caught, makes any lineman look good. When the chips are down and you have less to work with, that's when you know how good a player is. He hasn't had that to overcome. Also, if it had not been for Cam, Aub running game would have been garbagio.

No doubt that a qb like Cam can help an o-lineman look good but Ziemba was a very good tackle before Cam arrived. Why do you ignore the fact that he was recognized as a freshman All American and an All SEC tackle before he played with Cam? He played without Cam for three years and he and the AU running game still put up big numbers. Take a look at Ben Tate's rushing total in 2009. There's no factual basis to back up your statement.

IDK, man. Auburn has a history of having great RBs. They were good at running the ball back when they had Ben Tate, which was before Cam. I don't think you know enough of Auburn football to make that claim. I watched Auburn for the past 8 years or so, and so I have seen Ziemba since he was a freshman. He is good, he can block his ass off, and he doesn't look good just because of Cam. He is just good. Period. Before Cam, the Auburn QB play was sub-par, to put it lightly. Not terrible, but certainly not great. Cam did make it easier, but it isn't like he had CONSTANT pressure while passing or taking the first contact in the backfield. He got good blocking, and Ziemba, IMO, was the best on that line the past 4 years.

Was only speaking on this past year but I'll take y'alls word on it. His draft report didn't sound all that complimentary tho.

I see what you're saying. I mean, Tom Brady fell to like, the 6th didn't he? I'm sure is draft report wasn't that good either. Plus, most of that has to be due to his bad workouts. I could give a damn what a player lifts or how high he jumps or any of the other things. If you can play, you can play. I think it was Bear Bryant who said "recognize winners. They come in all shapes and sizes." You find guys who want to win and a drive to accomplish it, coupled with the ability to play and play at a high level, and you're fine, regardless of what somebody says. That is what Ziemba is, to me. Time will tell, like with any draftee.

If he was so good then why was he in the 7th round?

Again, Tom Brady fell to the 6th. Kendrick Burney wasn't drafted, and many saw him as a later 2nd, early 3rd AT WORST. These things happen. He didn't work out well, that has been said already. Read the thread, THEN respond.

Good players fall to a late round all the time. This was one of my favorite picks. I made a comment once about Auburn having a bad O-line. I was corrected afterward, so I went back and did some research, and this guy stood out the most.

I understand bro, i knew he didnt work out well, but i thought maybe there was more to it. with the workouts and all, he was still projected to be a 2nd-3rd rounder right? my bad

I'm really sick of the 'Brady fell to 6th' comparison. He was a true Diamond in the Rough player. Meaning, it's rare. And I'm only talking about QB's. This doesn't even really compare with other player positions. I would compare it more to Greg Hardy.

I tell you what I see--I see an OL who stays on his block and keeps blocking for 6-7 seconds. He seemed to have a knowledge of his QB and knew he was scrambling, running etc.

He has no wasted motion. Short arms, however, and limited flexibility and quickness. We may have our starting RT or RG. (If Otah's knees are bad, maybe he should be moved inside and Ziemba to RT. If not, Ziemba will give Schwartz and Robinson all they can handle.)

Who had Burney as a late 2nd most everywhere I saw was projecting 6-7th so UDFA shouldn't be unexpected. He is a 5'9" CB that runs a 4.71 scouts aren't exactly drooling over that.

But good players fall in every draft. Sometimes because of character or injury concerns but a lot of times they get overlooked because of average measurables. I wish people would get out of this mindset that where a player goes in the draft is a reflection of how good they are. Players disprove that logic every year.

Zemba is a solid pick and will at nothing less be good depth at RT.

    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.
