Smitty to Chargers rumors heating up

Recommended Posts

Smitty is the only player in the panthers history who has given 110% every play every year. I look at him as a Ray Lewis type when it comes to passion for the game. he endured high ball jake for 7 years. Remember the giants game when Jake set him up to get his arm broken? he stuck by this team, he's paid his due's. if he wants to go let him go it will definitely be a sad day in Carolina, but to say he isnt sticking by his franchise is crazy!

If he ASKS to leave this team, then he is not sticking by this franchise. He's leaving. Does he have everyright to leave? Hell yea he has everyright to leave. But he's still abandoning this team in it's dark hour when we stood by him during his.

if he goes anywhere I hope it's the chargers. They have Rivers, a native NC Stater, and I think he would succeed there.

I'm really not sure Smitty would know what to do with a QB who puts the ball where it's supposed to be, when it's supposed to be there.

I'd rather get something back for him than have a last few years that turn out to be more sentiment than production.

He most def is someone you don't want pissed off in the locker room.

He's a hot head with a little man complex who basically ended two guys careers because they looked at him wrong.

That is the very last thing a 1st year head coach needs is some temperamental guy who many look up to in the LR challenging his authority.

Smitty is not going to go ANYWHERE and be what he was in the early to mid 2000's. He is getting old, gets hurt (on and off the field), spats with teammates, is too outspoken given his production, and has a general bad attitude. He'll fit in nicely in a Jets uniform.

Sure JR and Hurney drafted him, and they did stand by him with the whole Lucas situation. On the field however, we haven't done him any favors.

If we HAVE to lose him at least get a veteran Wideout in return V-Jackson sounds good plus would be sad but nice to see Smitty get a chance at a ring elsewhere with Rivers.

The Chargers will not trade a kings ransom (VJ) for a player well past his prime.

Plus SS doesn't fit thier offensive game plan nearly as much as VJ.

    • You don’t even need 1b because Tepper is the only one foolish enough to wheel that deal.    Player wise? Jake’s elbow. JR and Pep getting sideways, no Carruth, Cam’s shoulder, Luke’s concussions, it would be a long list of stuff. You can take it down to certain plays in games. Fox chasing 2 point conversions in the SB would be on my list. RMJr slipping at the end of that same game was not helpful.
    • Ultimately this just amounts to heavy revisionist history. I mean you aren't talking to someone that just popped out the womb a week ago. I was here all throughout the predraft process. The overwhelming majority of the fanbase felt like this was a fine situation and the best situation for a rookie QB to go to compared to Houston for example. The hype for Young and our "rockstar" staff was off the charts. No one could dare speak cautious skepticism of his abilities or they would be neg repped into oblivion. Only after he had one of statistical worst rookie seasons of the last 25 years did we get this narrative now that his rookie season actually shouldn't count. Complete malarkey if you ask me.
    • On the field? Since I guess it qualifies as multiple instances it might not count, but have the damn refs throw some flags on illegal hits to Cam's head in SB50. If that doesn't count, 1A. Cotchery caught it 1B. Kasey keeps that kickoff inbounds. Off the field? 1A. Team is sold to anyone but Tepper 1B. We have the patience not to mortgage the franchise on that Bryce trade. Stroudwpuldve been the better pick but he's not worth it either.
