Jimmy Clausen on Cam and state of the Panthers (video interview)

He didn't say it because he already knows his role... He saw Cam's superior physical abilities at the player run camps. He knows that he will be behind him From day 1. There's no reason for him to speak out the side of his neck. He just can't compete with Cam. I kind if feel bad for him... Oh wait, that's right right he SUCKED last year.

he did say immediately after the quote that his job was to compete... I disagree that he's seen Cam and he's just like, "OK THATS IT, I'm DONE!" I don't think by any means does he think his role is set or it's all done, but Jimmy has had enough coaching with the media to know not to give them things to run with. If nothing else, he's been taught how to handle the media :P

Clausen has conducted interviews with class since he got here. That's never been an issue with him. I hope his stated attitude leads to some speedy development under Shula for him and the other young QB(s) next season.

Hopefully the competition elevates both Cam's and Clausen's game. Nothing wrong with a QB competition.

I lobbied for us to draft Cam as hard as anybody but now I want the guy who gives us the best chance to win to be on the field.

ESPN news is about to run somin about Clausen. Right before commercial they said... "And can Jimmy Clausen hold off the #1 pick Cam Newton in Carolina?"

Edit: Clayton talked about a plethora of QB's that will start off the season on the hot seat. Amongst the ones he mentioned, he said that JC will be on the hot seat because he said that JC will start for the Panthers to begin the season, but wonders how long it will last with the QB of the future Cam Newton right on his heels...

I absolutely couldn't believe it when I saw that. Theyre still trying to make something of it. It tells you what they think of our market if they consider that as one of things we WANT news about.

For a 2-14 team, the fact that they are interviewing our #2 who may be 1/2 a season from being NFL dead is a good thing. Any press is good press.

This is a rebuilding year. If you are Rivera you want to see Clausen perform in game situations to see for yourself.

But the best thing for this team would be to sign a Vet who can win games. There should be plenty out there.

Same freaking story from last year, except it was Moore starting and Jimmy on his heels. I'm telling you I think this is the wake up call Jimmy needed that he needs to buckle down and quick. People say Cam is superior to Jimmy physically, well no kidding, the guy is a DE playing QB. But passing the ball I think Jimmy will out shine him.
