What about Cam will revolutionize the game?

While he won't revolutionize the game, I'm excited to see what the offense will look like and to see how well Cam performs in the NFL. I remember reading somewhere that Rivera and Chud were adding designed rushing plays for Cam.

Can't wait for the NFL season.

After 165 posts the "I don't know if Cam will revolutionize the game, But I am pretty excited to see how he does this year" group seems to be the clear majority. It is hard to predict the future but if pillsbury dough boy last year didn't get killed for us but was sacked plenty, it is unlikely that a chiseled athletic specimen like Newton will be.

On the other hand guys gets hurt all the time and sometimes they are freak accidents other times deliberate attempts. So it hard to know anything for sure. Still I am in the pretty excited to see him play group as well.

killed perhaps not, but linebackers and others took their tool on many of those guys on that list

but I doubt cam will be killed. maimed, injured? sure, perhaps even disabled for a week or two, but killed?? I'm pretty sure the competition committee just passed a "No Killing Quarterbacks" rule, so we should be OK.

Linebackers and DE's take their toll on everybody that plays QB not just mobile QBs (except Peyton Manning who manages to never get hit even when he is sacked). That is just a product of football.

Bottom line as both of us have said is as long as he utilizes the sideline or gets his ass down to avoid hits he will be fine.

Young retired due to getting hit/concussions, Vick admitted that last year he was in a lot of pain towards the end of the season (which means if he keeps playing as he does, he won't last 6 more years in the NFL), Randal Cunningham was known to have an injury plagued career.. and Kordel Stewart isn't even worth mentioning..

the point was, you gave the worst examples for your argument.. lol

Why is Kordell Stewart not worth mentioning?? I'm not comparing him because he was a great QB I was comparing him bc he was a QB that had great running ability, ran often, and wasn't destroyed by linebackers. And he rarely missed a game.

Steve Young played 14 seasons in the NFL. Randall Cunningham played 16 seasons.

Most QBs are really sore at the end of a season that isn't isolated to just Mike Vick. It is called playing football.

Randall Cunningham started 49 straight games and 61 out of a possible 65 before he hurt his knee and then turned 30.

So I'm not sure why they are bad examples but okay  Would Fran Tarkenton make you feel better?? 17 seasons 3,674 rushing yards and 32 rushing TDs.

Oh, by the way, Cam is better equipped to handle certain levels of contact that NONE of these guys are/were. So I am very comfortable that linebackers aren't going to "kill" Cam Newton anymore than they have any other, MUCH SMALLER QB of the past.

point taken..

just found it interesting that towards the end of their careers were injury plagued.. it's one thing to be sore, Vick felt like death towards the end of last year. Young was knocked out of the league, and Cunningham was riddled with injuries the 2nd half of his career.

Newton will be good. We falcons are freaking out in the ATL

He's freaking out, not so much most of the falcon fan base.

Would like to point that this guy has a thread on the falcons board about trading Ryan and White for Vick. It's been moved to the "anything but logic" forum.

Threads like this are what make the Cam Crowd look so freaking stupid.

He has NOT taken a single snap in the NFL, and you guys are talking about what skill of his will revolutionize the game.

You look like idiots.

Let's see what the guy has in real games before anointing him anything other than a rookie QB.
