What about Cam will revolutionize the game?

Coming out of college, Mathew Stafford had NFL written all over him. Big, strong, hand cannon, played in a pro style, play-action offense for 3 years. That's about as good as it gets, yet he has some of the worst luck I've ever seen.

What does luck have to do with his fairly low completion percentage when he has played?

Kiper had him pegged as the future #1 overall coming out of high school...barring an injury or a complete failure, his future was always linked to the NFL more so than college.

So did many others.

This, my friend, is what you call (in the sports biz) a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Say someone/something is the best.

Then when that someone/something even comes CLOSE to fulfilling any expectations, proclaim your prognosticating abilities as god-like.

Not that Stafford isn't a great player. Saw him play in person and always thought that he had a million-dollar arm. Also saw him make a TON of plays that convinced me that, at times, he had a 10-cent brain.

Personally, when it comes to WINNING a game (and not just the style of play, i.e. pro-sets vs. spread), I'd take Gus Malzahn coaching my QB over Mark Richt/Mike Bobo seven days a week and twice on Sundays.

did you watch Cam play? His offense relied heavily on what you would likely interpret as "BS dumpoffs." Plenty of college offenses do.

Yeah, because college QB's that play in "dumpoff" offenses always average better than a first down PER PASS ATTEMPT.

Some of you guys watch a 5-minute youtube vid and think you know everything. Me? I was there for every Auburn game last year... and if you think that offense was made up of dink and dunk and dumpoffs, you are incredibly ignorant.

I don't think Cam is all that fast. Good speed, but not great. What does impress me about him is how hard it is to bring him down, and he bulldozed some pretty good linebackers last year.

Beason will welcome him to the NFL though.

If CJ is here, he will get ahold of him eventually.

neither one of these will happen.

yep, sure Cam threw screen.....but he went downfield with authority and was good at buying time in order to do that.

Clausen while in a Panther uniform advised Weiss was focused on having Clausen get the ball out of his hands ASAP when Clausen was forced to defend his problems throwing from the pocket/odd release in the pros. Big difference between what the two were asked to do in college in terms of throws.

Oh hey look I haven't seen one of these threads before in which TheRealDeal has the most posts in a Cam Thread.

I've been civil and I clearly stated in almost every post that it was my personal opinion that I don't expect others to share but for some reason people keep wanting to quote me instead of what other people post.

I guess I'm just a polarizing figure, just like Cam.

I know I am late to the party, but I kinda got lost getting here. Having to read 119 posts and all. Some good, some not so much. But all intertaining in there own way. Always good reading around here.

Not sure I see Cameron revolutionizing the QB position. All I know is, that if he somehow does, I sure as heck want to witness it.

IMO, Cameron has the POTENTIAL to be elite. And I will take that anyday. (And I am sure the Panthers will as well) He did have a great year statistically, no one can dispute that fact. If he can transfer that into the Pros, we are all in for a great ride.

One thing I am sure we all believe, is that your team cannot be elite until you have a QB that is elite as well. So if we are all rooting for the Panthers to be the best team they can be. We should all be pulling for Cameron to blossom into the best QB he can be.

Lastly, I believe Cameron will be either great, decent, or a bust. I am hopeful for great, because that will mean the Panthers will be competitive. And that is all I want for Christmas.

OK, that is all for now. Take care, and may all your arguements end well. Oh, and GOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not gonna argue Auburn vs Georgia, Malzahn is a far better OC than that dumb ass Bobo. My argument was simply Stafford was more prepared than just about anyone coming out lately. Cam will be fine if he puts in the work. He can't run over players like he use to, and he can't rely solely on athletic ability...but he can put the work in, get the mechanics ironed out, be a passer first and an athlete second and he could be great.

He won't revolutionize anything, but you don't need him to.

I think that's where a lot of misconception comes from.. I can't remember the exact numbers at the moment, but he only scrambled for a run on a handful of pass plays (out of some 200+?). the rest were designed run plays.

hence, he never relied on his athletic ability unless needed, and was a pass 1st QB (unless the play was a designed run)..

further reports mention even back in HS, he had to be prodded to run the ball after the 1st read, that he prefer to sit in the pocket and pass..

quite a few reports have spoke of this..
