Had this been the Panthers in the Super Bowl I wouldn't be so calm and forgiving, but Alex Morgan is absolutely adorable and I cannot be mad at her eventhough she's a Tarheel.

I love her even more now...

I would find it hard to congratulate my opponent as well having known I should have won that game by a large margin..

Abbey Wambach was the only player to go out of her way and congratulate the Japanese team after they lost. That lady has Class and Character. I absolutely adore her for that. The USA is a soccer powerhouse on the female side. I'm Impressed. Next year in the Olympics I would not be surprised if they brought home the gold for your country guys. Good game all around, there were some controversial calls. There was a clear off sides in one of the goals, and the Red card was a bit undeserved. But other than that, it was a very good final. Kuddos to both teams.

The red card was pretty much the definition of a red cardable tactical foul.

What goal was offsides? I didn't see any. Also if you take someone out on the edge of the box its pretty much an automatic red. Especially in a tied game near the end of ot. I thought the game was reffed well. The US missed way to many chances in the first half and it bit them in the ass. Realistically it should have ended in regulation about 4-1, but oh well that's how it goes sometimes.

Morgans Goal was offsides, but was not called.

She ran past the defender while the ball was in the air. She even gave her a little body on the way by. Please explain because I am confused

Off sides is when a player is already in front of a defender at the moment the pass is being made. Foot on ball to get literal. In the replay of the goal, Morgan was ahead of the Japanese defender as the pass was made. So if she was past the defender when the ball was in the middle of the air, clearly she had a head start. It was not called. Which is fine, made the game a lot more exciting. It truly was close to call during live play, but replays show you everything. Which is why I believe they should have instant replays. But at the same time that would make the game longer. Which people would freak out about.

You must have got a replay not shown on ESPN. Because from live run of play and the one replay they showed she was clearly on. Saying because she was passed her when the ball was in mid air makes no sense. You are aware some people are faster then others right? Not sure why were talking about this besides because I love me some Alex Morgan!

I actually was watching this on another channel (TV Azteca). Not ESPN. I looked at the ESPN recap and the angle wasn't really good. You can't see when the pass is made, where Morgan is actually positioned. Yes I realize they are fast, that's not what I was pointing out.

I'm not griping over it, just pointing it out. It was a great game. And yes Alex Morgan is a hottie. It was a hell of a gol as well.

    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
    • At least we don't need to hear overreacting about towels ...
    • Actually there is, try being a Charlotte Hornets fan. I mean the team fuging moved at its peak and hasn't recovered since and that was 25 years ago
