Hall of Honor

If Moose gets it, the statue needs to be that indellible pic of him "hushing" the Philly crowd in the 03 NFCS game. His most epic picture ever.

Smitty should have his now famous TD wingspan after the double overtime game vs the rams.

Jake should have his well known throwing pose, with his tongue out (I always thought he'd bite it off one day!)... Or him with his pants ripped.

Peppers should have him smiling on the sideline while we're loosing, out of breathe while the defense is on the field. Or him being blocked by a third string TE.

Minter should have his statue when we beat Dallas in 03 playoffs and that fool had his helmet off, running around the stadium, holding his helmet up proud with one hand and giving fans high fives with his other.

Can someone post all of these pics? I'm on my iPhone at the moment and cannot...

Well there are only two people in the Ring of Honor and yes they both do have statues, but I doubt that as the franchise gets older they are going to put a statue of every player who gets in. If they do then yes I agree with you that it should be an exclusive list. To me Sam Mills is not an All-Pro Hall of Famer, but rather a very big part of the organization and that is why they inducted him and retired his number. That is why I think quite a few players have a chance.

Technically Mills number isn't officially retired, we just haven't given it out but I get your point. I feel like to be in the ring of honor you have to have something that separates you from being just another good player. Be someone that other Panthers aspire to be. IMHO you can do that two ways. 1. You can be a phenomenal athlete the best to wear a Panthers jersey (a player like Smith). Or you can be a player who left a indelible mark on the franchise and be someone that is looked back on for years to come as being "that guy" in the on the field, community, and organization (Mills). I just don't think that Rucker, Minter etc fit either category.

Kasay is guaranteed to join our ring of honor. No question in my mind. I don't think anyone else would make it tbh. Rucker and Minter were very good players for a long time, but they weren't great players.. no offense to them. As other have said, Peppers will make it, if he makes the HOF.

A Ring of Honor should be reserved for great players, that have had great careers for the Panthers. Hall of Fame type players. At this point in our existence we have had very few players that we can say that about.

We have had great players pass through here, but very few have spent the majority of their careers as a Panther. And with the way the NFL is now, it is going to be extemely dificult to have those types of players.

I am in no hurry to fill that ring up anyway. So if Kasay and Smitty (If he stays a Panther) are probably the only two current Panthers that could/should make it.

Kasay should make it for sure. I would be down to let him in now. I think Smitty makes it whether he leaves this season or not. I think he'll handle his leave with class and will eventually retire a Panther.

I could see Minter making it. In his prime he was a great player, not the best to play the game but probowl caliber. What he did as a leader, mentor, and role model makes the difference.

I have a feeling that Peppers will be a twirp and retire as a Bear. And if so, then no chance in hell should he make it.

When the time comes, Beason will be a lock for it.

    • Actually that 4400 was based on a 16 game season to match Bryce's 16 games this year. Your offense has to be to drive the ball when it matters. Bryce doesn't do that with any level of consistency. If you're building a team that isn't focused on your QB, then fine. Then there's no need to pay Bryce as a franchise QB because literally anyone else will do. If you're going to pay him 50m plus per season, you have to be able to put the team on his shoulders and know he's going to carry the load. So far, when the pressure is on to get it done, Bryce has fallen miserably short of the target. 4-6 to finish out the season and 0-2 when all we need is a win to secure a playoff spot isn't stepping up and proving yourself as a franchise QB. I'd say it's quite the opposite.  There isn't a single coach in this league that would take Bryce over Burrow and very few if any that would take Bryce over Prescott. Hurts didn't have to throw in 2025 because Philly's defense was disgusting and Saquan had a MVP season. But then again, Hurts has shown that he can when it counts, and then there's his signature. Philly runs the tush push to lethal perfection, but that's a play we can't even consider with Bryce. You used 3 QBs from teams that had no defense to show QB stats don't always matter. When we had the worst defense in the NFL, we didn't see Bryce step up and carry the offense and put up gaudy numbers in a losing season because we were playing catch up. It was pretty much the opposite.  What have we seen from Bryce consistently to consider offering him a top 10 NFL franchise QB level contract? At the end of the day, that's all that matters.
    • I mean, what fanbase has high expectations when you have a QB like Bryce leading your team?
    • If you pay Bryce $50M a year you greatly limit your ability to put the type of team around him you need to have to have a chance to win. THAT is the problem. Hell, we can't win with him on a rookie contract. How the hell are we supposed to start winning with him paying him like a franchise QB and having to make tough roster decisions to accommodate his cap hit?
