JR reiterates a "total commitment to winning"

Hate that he didn't mention Smitty... Cuts like a knife

At this point, they haven't been able to talk to Smitty so they don't know where his head is and JR wouldn't want to mention him in his "commitment to winning" letter only trade him a few days later.

That's good and all.... But I think there's about 29 other owners who are feeling the exact same way. (Minus Cincy and Oakland). The thing is now every team's salary is going to be within 1% of each other... which means there is no more Washington and Dallas spending while other teams are conservative with their money.

I think now it's not about the owners at all. With everyone being on a level field $$$ wise now it's going to be about the GM and making excellent decisions. Spending $$$ wisely.

I believe the teams with a top tier QB + The front office that seems to evaluate talent the best and make the right decisions are going to be the ones that exceed under the new CBA.

Leaders have to say this stuff. If you work at a big company or consulting firm the head guy will throw this Ra Ra stuff every so often to keep the minions felling good about themselves and their crappy paycheck..or PSL.

I'll wait for what happens on the field.

It's just PR

When JR fails to mention Smitty among the core players, it's an ominous sign. Trades start tomorrow.

To me that isn't a big deal...actually out of respect for Steve I believe JR did not mention him so as to not be seen as "twisting his arm". He truly sees Steve as a son and also knows Steve well enough that if he did put Smitty in that letter then it would be seen as disrespect to Steve.

Show us on the field BigCat

SHOW US ON THE FIELD

Exactly. I for one have given him the benefit of the doubt with his plan to dump salaries etc, to set us up for this situation right here. And with Cam the Scam being handed the reigns we better put an all world cast around him.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
