DeAngelo Free Agency Thread

Your sig is an instant boner.

Schefter is an idiot. NFLN is currently reporting on FA RBs... Lombardi us saying Addai is the best potential FA. Bullpoo to that! He did report for sure that he believes Carolina will make DLo an offer he can't refuse and will bring him back. For the record, Addai sucks balls.

Glad you like my new sig, I needed to spice my profile up a bit.

As for Addai, the only reason people are hyped on him is because he play(ed) for the Colts and has been on Manning's side for years. Interestingly enough, he was also in the same draft class as DeAngelo. Funny when you look back at the RB class that year. Reggie was taken 2nd overall and projected to be the next best thing. Now he's fighting to stay #3 on the depth chart and about to take a pay cut! Then there's Lawrence Maroney to the Patriots. He had an awesome rookie season and looked like a beast. Then they decided to only pass and now he's been traded to the Broncos! Haha. Thank God the Patriots picked him since that's who we were targeting. We wasted no time in picking the BEST RB in that class in DeAngelo Williams. Now's on the verge of a major contract (hopefully from us) and a highly coveted free agent after most scouts and analysts said he had no 2nd gear and wasn't an every down back. Dumbasses! Joseph Addai was the last back taken in the first round, and he's done well. Not amazing, but clearly better than the first 2 backs mentioned. If you really wanna get crazy, the 2nd round produced a gem in MJD! You could argue he is the best RB in that class, but my heart still goes to D. Will. Either way, Carolina and Jacksonville got it right.

    • Per Bill Barnwell  Broncos part ways with a CB on the roster bubble Broncos get: 2026 seventh-round pick Panthers get: CB Damarri Mathis The Broncos have a rare problem among NFL teams: too many cornerbacks. ESPN's Jeff Legwold projects they could move on from Mathis, who was very good as a rookie in 2022 before losing his starting job after the defense's slow start in 2023. He played just 27 defensive snaps after Week 6 that season and 80 more across 10 games in 2024. With the Broncos using their 2025 first-round pick on cornerback Jahdae Barron, they could justify moving on from Mathis, who might not be active on game days even if he sticks around. Mathis' best season came with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero in Denver, and he hasn't been able to reach those same heights since Evero left for Carolina. The Panthers are set with Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson and nickel corner Chau Smith-Wade as their three starting corners, but Mathis could push the 28-year-old Jackson and serve as Carolina's primary reserve on the outside. Mathis is owed $3.4 million in 2025, so Denver might essentially buy a draft pick by eating some of that cash, similar to what the Commanders did when they sent running back Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers.
    • They can get fuged for a 6th and 7th. Doesn't make sense for us for anything less than a 4th and them paying a majority of his salary.
