Olindo Mare to Panthers for a 4 Year Deal

Congrats on totally missing the point... having to use another roster spot on a guy to KO because you are keeping a guy around out of a sense of loyalty is not how you build a winning program.

But OLINDO MARE? An old, notoriously chokejob kicker getting more money than half the players on the team? WTF MAN

Yeah! Change for the sake of change! that always fixes everything, I mean look at America!! Whoo!

Kasay had to go! Why? I mean, look how long he has been here! Let's go sign a bum!! Yeah! Take that, monotony!

Fail.

change for change's sake? did i say that or was that just your lame interpretation because you didn't like my opinion.

mare is just as accurate and can do kickoffs. mare will also be around for a longer period of time. not sure where the problem is other than kasay just being a legend around here because he's the last of the original panthers.

we had to move on at some point.

I'd rather keep two roster spots and have a kicker that can win games than one guy who can boot it and choke in big games, especially with the new rules.

Some people are so focused on "OMG 2 ROSTER SPOOTS FOr a K1CKER!1" that they are failing to see what benefits we got from it.

Yes, brilliant post. This 2-14 team is just 1 player away from a Super Bowl trophy and we got in 38-year-old kicker Olindo Mare.

If the guys got a similar percentage and experience to Kasay and can do KO's it's a no brainer imo. Now you can argue that we paid him too much but I don't think you have a solid argument that he's not an upgrade over Kasay if nothing else because of the KO issue.

I think most are more upset that we regressed at the position, rather than any silly loyalties.
how did we regress? again... just as accurate, younger, and can do kickoffs eliminating the need for a KOS (btw...name all the teams smart enough to have one of those).

I'm sure that 38 year old will inject some serious life on this aging team! Especially when Rivera is cussing him out in post game press conferences for losing games for us! But, hey, at least he's NEW!!!! YEAAAAHHHH BABAYY!!

a better measure would be a system where FG% is weighted by the average attempt distance.

Not being a jackass man, but why post the numbers anyways then. Some stooge here will undoubtedly use it as proof. Numbers often dont tell the whole story, as you were saying.

Also, the number of coaches he played under and home stadium he kicked in would have to be considered.

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
    • Are we sure something hasnt happened to him because that seems pretty shitty to simply abandon this place
