Is anyone here not really happy about the direction this franchise is heading?

We went 2-14. We drafted one of the most controversial players in recent history to be our franchise QB. While he has near unlimited potential, he could also be a bust and we'd be stuck with Jimmy. We have a new coaching staff. We have an OC who hasn't been an OC before. We spent a fortune to keep players that are injury prone.

But damnit, Jerry Richardson has shown he's got huge balls over the past few days. We have some of the most talented players in the NFL on our roster... I'm extremely happy with the moves we've made over the past few days and on draft day. It would be weird if you WEREN'T nervous... but that's why it's so damn fun! LET'S GO PANTHERS!

The big contracts they dished out to resign their own players have a higher risk than possible reward. With the exception of Charles Johnson, the others have most likely seen their best playing days pass them by. I don't think Deangelo will regain his '08 form and Thomas Davis could very well be ineffective with a twice ripped up knee. Why on earth they gave him a massive new contract while yet to see how he has recovered while he is still under contract for a year has got to be the worst move since the Delhomme contract. The James Anderson deal was fine, didn't break the bank on him and he had a great '10 season.

Hurney has most likely put the nail in his coffin if these moves don't pan out.

I am betting that the 5 year Davis deal will have injury protections.

I'm not hating, not sure what I am...maybe cautious, or curious.

Maybe mad or sad.

Just not really liking the direction over the past 4 years, and the last 6 months have been even worse.

Here's to hoping for the best, and preparing for the worst.

i think everybody's nervous... hard not to be

i think saying DWill won't get back to '08 form is a slap in the face to him. i don't see that being an issue for him, and if he's healthy, he's still a huge threat

the TD contract is questionable, but i understand the desire of trying to keep one of our best areas on the team intact. i'm sure the contract is full of injury clauses and incentives, so if it doesn't work out... i'm sure we're covered

of course, with any FA receiving a new contract, their next hit could be there last... but that's football

i still have the faith. whatever product ends up on the field is still going to be more entertaining than foxball

Also just wanted to mention that it's now very obvious that Marty Hurney overvalues the Running Back and Line Backer positions. I know that's not a shock to anyone, but damnit it drives me crazy.

Those are two of the most plug and play positions on the football field, and we have 4 1st rounders playing between those two spots.

I'm the opposite. I feel like renewed life has been breathed into a franchise on the verge of going stale. Fox regime just got old, tired, and predictable. Been playin it safe for too long now, time to take some risks and see how they pan out.

I am very very cautiously optimistic. At the end of the day in a QB driven league the direction we go is tied to Cam. I am on a wait and see approach with Cam right now. There are a lot of things in Cam’s game from college that worries me, but we’ll see. I am not thinking he is going to bust like some, and I am not thinking he’s the next best thing like others. I am just on a wait and see. Like I said Cam is really our direction at this point.

Also the signings I’m level on. I think we got forced into over paying for some players, and I think it’s good that we are locking up some important pieces.

Overall very very cautiously optimistic.
