Cam Newton Interview Earlier Today

seems like he's gotten very comfortable interviewing in the nfl, when he first got drafted he seemed cautious. Now, he's speaking very natural. Hopefully his progression on the field is coming along the same.

When we drafted Cam I was one that was really upset and opposed to it. Let me be the first to say I was a douche for doubting. The kid WILL be great because he has the desire to be great and has a great personality. And even if he was to turn out a bust, I would rather draft a bust like Cam, a good guy at heart, than a bust like Leaf who was just an Dbag. Oh, and he will not be a bust. I am 110% a believer! Can't wait to get this thing started!

The guy is one of the most personable athletes I have ever seen. I really think he is going to be a great QB for us. The way he carries himself reminds me of Donovan McNabb (who I think is one of the classiest QBs ever to play). He sees the fun in the game and realizes that he has been put in an incredible situation.

It really impressed me when he said he knew the money would take care of itself if he played well and that when he picked his agent, from the beginning he instructed them that he didn't want a holdout. Very mature for a 22 year old.

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
