So Osi Umenyiora...

Recommended Posts

It seems people are taking notice of the panthers off season. Mainly people that either think we are "Losers". Others believe we're going in the right direction.

People are taking notice, for good or bad. Which is awesome. Now, apparently Osi Umenyiora wants out of the Giants Organization. Would I want this guy playing for us? Uh, yeah. But unfortunately I believe we're fine at DE. Our main need would be CB now. But what I thought was kinda of a low blow from Umenyiora want what he said..

How does a guy who had one good year (no disrespect to Charles Johnson) sign a deal and make more than both me and (Justin) Tuck combined?”[/CODE]

Ooooh... Osi, Osi, Osi...

I wouldn't mind getting this guy, but as I said. CB would be top priority, or would a pass rusher like Osi next to Charles and in rotation with Brown/Hardy be dominant enough to get to the QB that we wouldn't need to acquire a CB?

I'm not sure how much money is left to spend either..

So someone good with math or with links tell me if this would be possible?

Thoughts, gents?

We don't need another DE because of the blitzing from our studly ass linebackers. Hardy and Brown can hold their own. Our DTs can at least draw a little attention and maybe help collapse the pocket some. Our LB will shoot the gaps and get to the QB plenty. Osi is just butt-hurt. Besides, if he's whining with the Giants, he will whine here. We don't need that crap.

Side note, how does somebody who had 3 good months (no disrespect to IvanTheAwesome) have more swag than me?

Would be interesting to see Osi on the team, would probably be great. However we do need a CB, and no, I don't believe that even with Osi added to the D line we wouldn't need a CB. I'm in favor of trading for Asante Samuel if the price is right, although I don't know if that is happening and either the Eagles are really wanting to trade Samuel.

He's a talented pass rusher, but hes been whining about his contract for a while now, even taking a shot at Charles. Maybe its just me but I can't get behind rich people complaining about money.

And as said, the Giants will want too much in return(I believe they're asking for a first round choice) so I don't see it happening.

Yea, 1st round pick is the price I'm hearing too. I wouldn't want us to give a 2nd for him, honestly. He's a very good DE but it's not a priority position, we're probably getting pretty close to the cap by now (and still don't have that CB we need) and I don't think he'll be playing at a high level much longer anyway.

Hurney take care of his own. Its not Osi talking trash to CJ is all, thats why he said no disrespect. The guy has been unhappy with his contract for awhile.

LoL if he played for Panthers he would have gotten paid a long time ago.

Here's the full statement...

""Saying I have two years left on my deal," Umenyiora wrote. "These contracts only mean something to us? Where is O'Hara? Where is Seubert? True inspirational football players. They were cut after being injured. They have years left on their deal. Why is (Brandon) Jacobs asked to take a pay cut? He has (two) years left on his deal."

"The fact is in the business we are in, if you get injured, or they feel like you underperformed, they cut you without hesitation," he continued. "But if you clearly outplay your contract, and ask for something to be done, you're a bad guy and not a team player. It's ridiculous."

"How does a guy who had one good year (no disrespect to Charles Johnson) sign a deal and make more than both me and (Justin) Tuck combined? It's not right," Umenyiora said in the email. "Everyone in this business understands that is exactly what it is. Business. And just like none of us get upset when our teammates are released due to business decisions, the teams also don't get upset when something like this happens. It's just frustrating to see how people react to one thing, and not the other. Just be fair."

He has a point.

    • I agree with OP notion, QBs always get credited for game winning drives even if they do minimal. Just last night Caleb got credited for a GE drive when they basically ran the ball the whole drive and only had to go 36 yards.   And there are drives where Bryce could of had a game winning drive if not for a Legette drop vs Philly or a Chubba fumble vs Tampa
    • You are actually, genuinely comparing Bryce to Jimmy fuging Pickles? Jimmy accounted for 3 touchdowns in his 10 starts in 2010. In Bryce’s 10 games post benching last year, he accounted for 20 touchdowns. Jimmy threw three touchdowns in 2010. Three. Bryce has thrown 10 touchdowns through 6 games. He is currently on track to throw for 3300 yards, 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Wtf are we even talking about anymore. I mean seriously
    • Tepper? The guy that directs the coaches towards goals that he set for them… that guy. He is the one.    I don’t think he ever was going to be expelled from class, they had him come in for garbage time maybe the 2nd week he was benched.  I will say this. People said he wasn’t under pressure the last part of the year when he did better, but he was fighting for his career and that’s pressure. And he saved his career too. I don’t reject him for those kinds of things I reject him for the physical things. I have always brought it down to he has slim margin for error and has to be perfect. People with the tool set have a little fatter margin for error. Why make it harder on yourself? Got nothing to do with hating him.  I am no statistician but game that margin thing out a lot and see how that works.
