What kind of role do you expect the fullback to have in the new offense?

Fullbacks are becoming more and more of a relic around the league. We had Hoover and Fiammetta because of Fox wanting to keep the fullback around for DeAngelo and Stewart. But with both Shockey and Olsen on the team and all the chatter about using a lot of 2 TE sets, is a guy like Fiammetta going to have a role in this offense? Will he even be listed as a starter in our base formation?

Fiametta is definitely the hybrid. From what I saw at practice, we will line up in I and offset-I and motion to an empty backfield, and Fiametta was the fullback in on those plays. So, we shall see. It will be interesting. Unlike Fox, having a fullback in won't mean "lead blocker" or "pass blocker" exclusively. Unpredictable offense (feels good to say that).

    • It really is an unfortunate chain of events for him, I mean he was what, weeks away from a new deal
    • Past history says he won't ever play LT again and teams won't have any post surgery film of him to make an evaluation.  It is possible that he can play at the end of '26 season but we may not let him and surely not let him play LT so we would have inside information on the injury and recovery that other teams don't.  It is a fluid interesting situation for sure.
    • I think it all depends on the level of healthy. He's going to need to play some sort of prove it contract before he gets a big LT payday. If he is fully healthy I expect someone will offer him a contract as a tackle, but it won't be the top 5 contact we were expecting to pay if he hadn't gotten hurt.
