Which sports radio station do you prefer? I have been listening to 610 the Fan most of the day at work, and am wondering if there is anything better out there? I use my droid to pick up the station so I assume it can get all the other ones.

I am such a fan of Steve Czaban's national show. I get it on XM 208 and I download the podcast for the parts that I miss. The guy has smartest and funniest takes on sport. Nobody even compares to him. I was laughing my ass off today when he was calling Stevie Williams a "bag monkey." Just one of those guys I wished had stayed in Charlotte.

Sometimes 730 can be ok, Esp if your a nascar fan. They have some Panther talk but its not as good as 610

730 became ESPN today and some stuff got changed around...

http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/94613/wzgv-charlotte-picks-up-espn-radio-affiliation

The move, effective next MONDAY (8/8), will clear ESPN's "MIKE AND MIKE IN THE MORNING," "THE HERD WITH COLIN COWHERD," and "THE SCOTT VAN PELT SHOW" in the market, moving BILL ROSINSKI's local "THE BOTTOM LINE" from mornings 8-10a to afternoons on WZGV, with ROSINSKI hosting MONDAY through WEDNESDAY, GM LANNY FORD hosting THURSDAYs, and guest hosts on FRIDAYs. "THE BOTTOM LINE" will replace the local "STRICTLY SPORTS" in afternoons, with hosts TONY RIZZUTI and MIKE PACHECO remaining on board as contributors.

I "discovered" Czban when I was in sales on the road alot in the mid 90's. Back when he was I think in Chicago on Sporting News.

Oddly, he had his sound effects machine that he brought to Charlotte and the extra irony is he would have this Golf roundtable and Gary Williams would come on the show.

Then GW ends up with his own show in Charlotte and gets the machine.

Barely listen anymore.

I know Gary is a big fan of Czaban. I email him about getting Czaban's show on, when the MSP went on vacation, instead of Mike & Mike. He said that he loved Steve's show and if it were up to him he would make it happen.

Use to love 610 but now its nothing but a tarheel slob fest.

garbage since pacman left.

It was garbage even before he left! When they started shuffling everyone around is when they ruined it!

There's a book entitled, "If it ain't broke, break it!" In this case they should have left it well enough alone.

No wonder they made their other station all news! Charlotte really couldn't support 2 sports stations.

Pacman's whiner line was just, Duke sux, Carolina sux, Duke sux on and on! 1/2 the guys they had on with Pac were terrible. I still don't know what Kilgo (sp) ever contributed.

Do we really expect a good sports station in this town when we have the worst newspaper coverage of sports of any major metro area? Rock Hill Herald and Gaston Gazette cover NASCAR better. And the Observer's coverage of the Panther's and Bobcats are almost non-existent!

All the Observer is, is cut and paste from the AP & UPI! I'm not sure they even have a real reporter any longer.

Same way with FNZ. Yea, they bring the same ol' retired players in and ask them the same ol' questions. Not one of them ever went out and broke a story! That would be too much like, oh, I don't know, JOURNALISM! GOD FORBID THAT!!!

Most of these guys were just about one step above playing records.

    • Saints game, although some of the early season contests were ugly too.
    • I mentioned Jake as an example of three years not necessarily telling the full story. Once they hit the field for their first NFL game, draft status loses all meaning outside of "biggest bust / best value" conversations between analysts and fans. Coaches and GMs should never take that into account. Performance is all that matters. As far as "complete games", people love guys who lead fourth quarter comebacks. What nobody ever seems to mention in that context is the reason you need a "fourth quarter comeback' is because you're losing after three and a half. That's why I'm not as big a fan of that metric.  But I do have to concede that it does point to a "clutch" factor and, more importantly, to winning games.  If Bryce continues to so that or progresses to doing it consistently, I'm not gonna fret about mediocre to lousy stats. And lemme tell you, as a guy who pines after consistency, the Panthers quarterback history (even the good parts) does not paint a pretty picture 😕 (this team turns "ugly wins" into an art form)
    • what game do people feel is Bryce's actual worst on the season.  Not fantasy stat wise.  Just actual  QB performance?
