Newton's personality reminds me of.............

Mcnabb, the way the guy loves to have fun and kids around, Mcnabb was seen as a big kid while he was philly, and I don't see why having a good time is a bad thing. Mcnabb loves the fans and so does Newton, I hope Newton is a great leader like him as well.

Also both of them are always smiling.

Rothlisberger smiles in training camp.

Phillip Rivers smiles in training camp.

Matt ryan smiles in training camp.

Aaron rodgers smiles in training camp

Do you see a trend here. it's very obvious

Mcnabb's personality is genuine, like Cam's.

McNabb has a habit of "hey, not my fault" statements after bad losses as well as other self-centered behavior. It's one of the things that didn't exactly endear him to Eagle fans.

On the field and in the locker room, Warren Moon is a better role model.

McNabb is the most overrated QB in the league.

His passive aggressive, throw my teammates under the bus pressers made me sick.

Maybe now...but in his prime he was a top qb and I don't really see how it can be argued. I do agree with his bad teammate reputation though. I think people just hate him for him. Give his stats to any other random, neutral qb and people would have him as a top5 qb for the majority of his career.

Edit: I am from Syracuse, loved Mcnabb, but am in no way a homer.

Stats for QBs in a West Coast system should always be understood to be at least a little inflated, especially in Reid's offense. That's why non-WCO teams who sign or trade for WCO quarterbacks pretty much always wind up disappointed. Latest example: Hasselbeck with the Titans.

When McNabb has made it to the big stage, he's generally choked (or chucked). Not what I want to see out of Newton.

    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
    • Yea Bryce was definitely a top half qb the second half of last season but I'm not sure Canales is 100% sold on him.  Like I've said in another post I think that's part of why we talked to so many South Carolina players in the draft process.  I think they are doing early due diligence on Sellers just in case.
