I've just come to the conclusion that, no matter what Hurney does, people are going to think he's an idiot. Just a few weeks ago, everyone was ranting about how Hurney would be the worst GM in the league if Peppers just walked into free agency because we'd have to tag Gross due to stagnation in getting him signed. However, we lock up Gross long term for fairly cheap and tag Peppers. Now it's two weeks later, and Hurney is either the worst GM in the league for tagging Peppers when we should have just let him walk, or he's an idiot for not putting a gun to his head and forcing him to sign the contract offered to him prior. Christ.

Successful teams don't focus on their opponents as much as they focus on being the best they can be. That way they bring it regardless of who they play. Plus they know like most educated fans know, predicting who will be good or bad at this point is useless. Even supposedly great teams are only a few key injuries away from mediocrity.
