The reality of Cam's good night

CRA

Recommended Posts

with starting OL

Drive 1 - 62 yards 4 first downs (2 from Cam's throws)- stalled at 8 - per Rivera Cam looked to be forcing things - FG

backup OL

Drive 2 - Goodson fumble on 2nd down

Drive 3 - 3 and out

Drive 4 - 54 yards 2 first downs (2 from Cam's throws) - stalled at 21- FG big miss to a wideopen AE - pressure or not you gotta hit that.

Drive 5 - 24 yards, 1 first down (1 from Cam's throw) - bad throw on 3rd down

Drive 6 -18 yards, 1 first down

Drive 7 - 3 and out

Cam faced a variety of starters vs. backups and same as with the caliber of Panthers he was on the field with...which should be noted.

worth noting, Jimmy had more 3 and outs despite Newton having more drives with offenses.

6 pts generated from the 7 drives. 7 were generated from Jimmy's 5.

Like Jimmy there were a variety of good and bad play from Cam mixed into all drives.

Let's not forget that it's also game 1 of preseason football.

Defenses will be coming at them harder in a real game, so I don't think the coaching staffs are making their choice based on an exhibition game. They both made some good throws, and they made some bad throws/decisions.

And Greg Olsen made them both look good, lol. Go Greg.

Cam Newton SUCKS!!!

Ok, now... seriously...

I saw some good throws. I saw a couple beautiful throws.

I saw some crap throws too. He obviously needs to work on timing with his receivers.

I saw some stupid drops too. Maybe he's putting too much into the throws?

He played about as well as you can expect from a Rookie who's had only a few weeks to train with his team.

I'm actually glad of two things though...

1. There were no run plays. He hung in the pocket even when he was sacked.

2. You can tell he's been working on taking snaps from under center. His drop backs looked clean.

I can't wait until they actually cut him loose AND can't wait to see him and Smitty hook up.

That is the job of the receiver..Just ask Jake Locker...

Anyway, Rivera is right. Cam did look like he was forcing a couple after Lafell looked like he missed what should have been a catchable ball. Then Cam goes and puts to much zip on the ball to other receiver in the endzone.

Rivera should have settled Cam down then...He was clearly wound up. Which is expected.

I think we're overanalyzing this too much.

Cam played decent. He was surprising to most of us. Some of us are hopeful for his future. He seems to have talent.

I mean, you can't really take much more from the few downs he has played in one game.

Wow... some common sense on the Huddle.

Prepare to be set on fire.

Well hopefully he can turn piss into milk, because your wheaties are ruined otherwise.

The Cam hate is stupid dude.

:jc:

Wow, you're totally mistaking me for a cam hater. I criticize the guy, I don't hate him

The cam love is a little over bearing and ridiculous to be honest. It's getting sickening. It's like everyone is riding on his jock strap. It's getting annoying.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
