The COLTS are working out Mark Sanchez. The Indianapolis freakin Colts are working out a QB...how is the team with the best QB in the league working a guy out and the PANTHERS haven't even sniffed a first round QB and our guy is Jake Delhomme?? Granted they probably are not going to draft this guy but it just gives you a little perspective as to how stubborn this organization is with drafting first round QBs..

?

Every team is interested in just about every 1st round prospect. No doubt the Panthers have seen Sanchez workout.

Last year the Panthers were one of the main interest in Matt Ryan.

Just because you don't hear about what the FO does, doesn't mean they're not doing anything.

Good lord, I love how ANY QB related topic always ends with the poster mentioning something about how its insane that we still have Delhomme or something along those lines.

The organization, and especially Fox, don't like drafting young QB's. Especially extremely inexperienced QB's such as Sanchez and Stafford. They prefer experience. Yes, they are stubborn with drafting first round QB's.

Not to mention, first round QB's are pretty damn risky for the amount of money they get. They are an extremely risky position. Look at the lame-ass QB's that have hit in the first round since about 1995: Kerry Collins, Jim Druckenmiller, Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Cade McNown, Chad Pennington (although he might have finally found his stride), Michael Vick, Joey Harrington, Patrick Ramsey, Alex Smith, JP Losman, Byron Leftwich, Kyle Boller, Rex Grossman, David Carr.

Comeon. And since then, what 1st round QB's really showed solid excellence? Peyton Manning, Donovan McNabb, Carson Palmer, Eli Manning, Ben R., Matt Ryan, Daunte Culpepper (debatable...), Phillip Rivers. Not many.

The Panthers are smart because they'd much rather invest in solid defensive/offensive linemen or running backs or DB's. They are easier positions to transition to in the NFL. They can be starters for years and years.

QB's are just damn tricky, especially young ones.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
