Any animal lovers want to help?

Some of you may remember me talking about the dogs I rescued. A neighbor abandoned 7 dogs (5 were pups). I have had them since about the first 2 pups died of parvo, and I got the third one through it. One of the dogs is a full pit, the mother of the pups is pit/lab, and you can tell the pups have pit in them. Have to be careful about finding a home. All the dogs are young and very sweet (also very smart). The local rescue organization here would not help...told me to take them to the pound (the pound immediately puts down dogs with any pit in them, regardless of disposition).

Finally Brother Wolf in Asheville said they would help me with placement. A few weeks ago, they took 2 of the pups. I still have 3 dogs waiting (plus my own animals). Also...the pups had red mange, so had to get treatment for that.

Between vet bills and food, these dogs are really draining me. My good samaritan thing is costly. They are such sweet dogs, I just want them to have a good home and a good life. (Anyone out there want a dog?)

This is getting so expensive, thought I would ask if anyone would like to contribute anything toward the care of these dogs.

Hate to put this put this out there. Sometines trying to do the right thing is a struggle.

I already have two dogs and a 2 1/2 yr old daughter and recently had to rent my house and move into an apartment because of recent money issues. I might be able to take one though, I'll have to talk to the wifey.

Sounds like too much for you too. Don't think you need another dog at this time.....but nice of you to consider. :)

I'll talk to the wife and try to convince her. I wouldn't mind taking one in. I'll also spread the word for you.

Thanks. They are really good dogs. Susie, the pit (brindle) and Dolly, lab/pit mix, have both been to work with me. Dolly is here now. I work in a facility for adult with developtal disabilities. My cottage has 24 folks who are older. Both dogs do great with them. Lucy is the younger one...about 6 mths old now. susie still less than a year old...and Dolly...maybe 1 1/2.

try craigslist. I had a cat I found on the side of the road. I put an ad on craigslist and the first person that called took it home. I got 8 other calls after that if I had more kittens I could have found homes for them all. U may get so many calls you can be choosy about who you put them with.

BE VERY CAREFUL PUTTING ANIMALS ON CRAIG'S LIST!!!

Animal Labs cruise Craig's list to find their test animals!!!!!!!

Very terrible life ending up as a lab animal. They pose as ordinary citizens, so me even pay people to get free animals off Craig's list. Most shelters and rescue groups know what to look for and won't give animals to them.

So be very careful who you deal with if you advertise the dawgs on there!

Have to be even more careful with dogs who have any pit in them. Brother Wolf has a very good screening process. They do a home visit...make sure the dog has a good home and is a good match.

This is my first experience with pits. They are such great dogs. Both of the dogs I have taken to work just love everyone. As I said, they are quite a hit with my residents. I think they are therapy dog material. Can't believe how these dogs are so badly abused by some people. Can't bear to think about it.

    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
    • Maybe faked was too strong of a word.  "Milked" may be the better way to call it.
