Cam is not ready

The Saltman

Recommended Posts

No rookie QB can come in and be the team's entire offense. Our OL was getting manhandled, our WR's got no separation, and the running game was nonexistent.

Until we get those issues under control Cam's going to struggle. So would Jimmy. So would any QB short of Peyton Manning or Tom Brady.

if he's not starting then he's not getting a lot of practice reps anyway so technically his developement is going to be stunted that way too. he's not gonna learn those instincts watching our other lackluster qbs take those reps, that's for sure. i don't see why he can't learn and play at the same time..and it seems to me the coaches are feeling the same way.

He practices IN PRACTICE

Put into pressure situations like a live game forces people to react instinctively - which is unacceptable technique and footwork. Playing him negates his practice...

OL isn't ready to start. Look at the pocket collapse in last night's game. Nothing to step up in to. When there was Cam was afraid to. Cam needs to develop some trust with the line and the line needs to learn how to block.

No wonder we've barely run the ball, the pass blocking needs so much work that it's going to be like building a pyramid.

Glad to see that the Cam Supports are still making excuses for his extremey poor play. There was absolutely nothing he did last night that was better than an UDFA project QB would have been.

30% completion percentage.....unbelievably eratic....God Awful footwork and mechanics...msome passes were skipped to the receivers....others were thrown 10 yards over their head.

Keep telling yourself taking Cam #1 was a smart move. Maybe that will make you gfeel better when we are picking #1 again this year.

Cam is a project....and not what you should expect from the #1 overall pick.

Well whether the Cam haters like it or not, he's our guy. We didn't draft him to ride the pine. We drafted him to start him. They can say it's a competition but as soon as they gave him the number 1 jersey, he was guaranteed to start. He'll get better but he needs more reps. Jimmy has had plenty to show that he does not improve after 10 starts.

Funny thing is..half the people in this thread who are now saying Cam is not ready are the same folks who were SURE he was going to be this awesome guy who was going to drive the team and make highlights week after week.

I get optimism..hell I'm optimistic too...but for all you folks out there who were so quick to deduce that Cam was going to come in here and change the franchise, well...go scoop of a handfull of Cam's poo and smear it all over your teeth~

Peyton Manning would look bad with this O-Line. Also, the receivers were getting no separation (except the TEs) Even SS was covered up.

Dalton had all day to throw plus the Bengal's run blocking was good. Panthers run blocking stunk it up too.

You must be reading another board. No knowledgeable poster said that. Yeah you got your unrealistic huggers and haters but they are the lunatic fringe.

All I read is that we would struggle early but hopefully improve over the season. The hope was for the defense and running game to help us until newton could contribute.

Sounds like you are the other end of that lunatic fringe that needs to do the same thing with Clausen's poo so you can be matched bookends with the haters on one side and the huggers on the other.:D

This is hilarious. Kind of hard to throw INT's when your bouncing the ball at Wr's feet or airmailing it over their heads by 15 yds.

I think everyone is aware of what Newton is, a great prospect, a great athlete needing to learn the pro game, that if he were on a team not so desperate would have the optimum year or two to learn.

That is not the case with the Panthers and we all know it.

This team has never had the 'talent' that a lot of us like to say it does.

The 'talent' has been in decline for a lot of years.

The truth is too, and we all know this, teams are built from the lines out.

Otah's a first round pick who can't stay on the field. The RG position, who knows...the D-Line, not been great in the middle since Jenkins and Buckner.

My point is simply anyone who is surprised that this team would look this ragged with its marginal starters out, with a new coach, new schemes, no OTAs and raw prospect at QB, well, its just hard to believe.

We also have a GM, who early on, liked to give away draft choices.

The tale of the Panthers this year will be the second half of the season, not the first. Expect the worst with games 1-8. Expect moderate improvement 9-16 and expect in the draft the lines will get a lot of attention and FAs will come for WR and CB. There are just way way too many holes to fill in one year.

Accept it. The only alternative is to be misterable if you don't.
