Calm Down

Smithers

It seems that some people just have unrealistic expectations for Cam. We have to remember that he is a rookie...who did not have the benefit of mini-camps or a long training camp. We must also remember that we were all aware of the accuracy issues he had when drafted.

The good news...most of his accuracy issues are due to poor mechanics and getting flustered in the pocket. Poor mechanics can be fixed with coaching. Getting flustered will get better with experience. Cam has the tools that cannot be coached, so I am confident he will develop nicely.

Plenty of HOF quarterbacks had terrible rookie seasons. We are still in preseason, where Cam has played about 7 quarters, and people are acting as if the world is over. It could be worse guys, after all he has not turned the ball over yet. I seem to remember last preseason, when we did not score a single offensive touchdown. As far as I am concerned, we are already better off. The offense will come to form...don't read into preseason too much. For all we know the coaches are only using 20 % of the playbook. We have not even seen much of the wildcat or other formations that have been practiced in camp. We will open it up come week 1 in Arizona.

I hope so. I was at the game last night and probably spent more time on the sideline getting our boys' attention rather than watching the game. I understand that preseason doesn't hold alot of water and not to be read into but our O-Line looked horrible.

Don't interject logic into this... the folks who hated Cam from day 1 are having a field day right now.

Lots of f'ing haters at the game last night. I kept hearing fug Cam! Cam sucks, "There's your heisman winner for you". They need to pull him from the game. Of course these fugs were from Cincinnati and do not have intelligence.

Considering Dalton had a QB rating of 30 coming into the game they do not have much room to talk. Good for Dalton for having a good game...but it was just one good game against a terrible defense.

I am more worried about the OL,DL and secondary.Cams will develope and gain confidense much quicker if we have a running game.My expectations were not that high for the first year when we drafted him however I do feel his progression as was Clausens and MMoore for that matter will be impacted by our ability or inability to run the football. We must sure up that line or we will have something to worry about.

We have a bigger problem on the Oline then at QB right now and thats saying something. Our run game is non existent. Not very good for any QB much less a Rookie.

Its is sad but I think they are directly connected. You are right our OL is pathetic couple with the blind faith that some have in thinking Otah will return to his old form. This guy had a swollen knee from practive.....wait until he goes in a game after being out of football 2 years. At best he will have to be nurtured along and cannot be counted on this year.:confused5:

I have lost hope for Otah. Gross is getting up there in age and has not played great lately. Next year's draft may need to include an OL or two in the early rounds.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
