Marty Hurney

I'm a Hurney supporter and think assessing talent in the NFL is tough and I think a lot of scouting teams make a lot more mistakes then us overall but lately...

2009: E. Brown - cost us a 1st and a 2nd and is now cut.

We didn't have a 1st and Peppers was unhappy with the team and left the following season. The team was desperate to get a top DE to fill the gap left by Peppers. E. Brown was a projected 1st but fell far.

2010: Once again we did not have a 1st because of E. Brown. Jake was gone and we were desperate for a QB. Hurney even said he tried to trade up because he thought Clausen would be snatched before we got a chance to get him.

He fell anyways, probably cause the kid doesn't have a strong enough arm. Now he is our 3rd string QB and will probably be let go next year.

It seems like Hurney and co. were drafting for spots the team desperately needed to fill, taking players other teams were ignoring.

I just hope Hurney has learned his lesson and is drafting the best available talent instead of picking a guy saying he will come to own this position.

It is another reason Newton, Edwards, LaFell, and McClain, need to succeed. Especially Newton.

If Hurney misses on 3 top draft choices in 3 subsequent years, the GM is going to be under a lot more scrutiny.

Brown cost us 2 picks. More importantly a #1 pick which hurney always picks right.

No he didn't we traded our 2010 1st round pick to the 49's for their second round pick. He cost us our 2010 1st round pick and that's it. God some people are slow around here.
