Who is left in FA that we could use?

we are done at WR.

CB and DT are another matter. they may wait until after week one to do something about either DT or CB. i'm thinking that DT may be the thing they take the wait and see approach on and CB will change soon (regardless of the smokescreen that hurney sent out).

hard to tell what they are going to do or who they might be interested. alex brown is still out there, but they may like where we are on DE. tommie harris is out there still, but he might be done. there are still a couple decent CBs out there.

will allen, joselio hanson, and lito sheppard are probably the top FA CBs.

I am starting to wonder if the reason why we haven't signed another CB is because we expect Hogan to be back soon? does being on the PUP list enable him not to play until a certain week?

We already have 4 DT so I don't know if we will be signing another one. Maybe we do sign another DT and cut Neblett a linebacker or a offensive linemen. I just don't know if we will carry 5 DT's but I would feel a whole lot better with 5 DTs considering how bad we looked in the preseason

Has to sit out first 6 weeks

Thanks! Hopefully Ron Meeks can teach the kid while he sits on the bench.

I understand the rookies have to develop, but I don't see what's wrong with cutting another safety and adding an extra DT.

Me neither but we currently have 4 safeties which is what most teams have. I thought 5 was too many and we can't cut another one because that would leave us with 3. So that means we will have to cut an offensive linemen or linebacker. I think it will be offensive linemen that goes first. Also keep in mind that we might need to get another CB unless we plan on using Pugh or Martin at corner.

crap. i wouldn't even have a problem releasing neblett and getting someone who had a clue what they were doing.

we could go with 4 if one of them was a decent starter.

Very true, but I was curious was McClain and Fua playing when we were getting ran over or was it Irvin and Hayden? I know Irvin was a starter and with him gone our line should get better. I think Harrison will be our starter with McClain coming in as a rotational guy. McClain is good but is said not to have enough energy to play every down. If Harrison can become a decent starter then I believe our defense will be good enough to be around the top 12.

    • well, players dictating things only works if you have the right collection of players to dictate things.  and in all honesty, not sure if we can answer if we do or don't as fans given......there are no Thomas Davis types around that we know are actually about X and Y (based on years showing it).  Collective team is too new to us to know what these dudes are really about in terms of players carrying the burden of culture.
    • Moore can be put in one of the vet spots on IR. No one will be checking for him at the start of the season. But I would be very perturbed if we tried to go all Gettlemagic and stash an obvious talent like Horn on practice squad like we did Butker. If we can get through this year, next year it will be obvious Moore and AT will be gone, starting namely with AT's contract.
    • Culture change comes from the top down, not from drafting a 3 and no D guard. I doubt Lamelo is gonna take his cues from this 20yr old kid lol. If Brandon Miller couldn’t change the culture with how good he is and how much he hustles on both ends, Kon Knueppel sure as hell ain’t changing it. Ace Bailey by all accounts is also a great teammate and hard worker, btw, who was drafted by a team he supposedly didn’t want to go to yet he immediately bought in. And he’s got actual length and tools on both ends of the floor. I feel this pick is going to age like milk rather quickly.
