One thing I have noticed....

Playoff appearances are what happens when you have a good team with consistent players and a good system in place. At this point rather than making the playoffs, we need to be focused on finding talented players who can make plays in the system we will be using. If you find enough players and have a good scheme, winning and losing takes care of itself. I don't have a number of wins that would make me happy or not but rather playing hard and being competitive in the fourth quarter when it counts. If we do that we will have a team of which we can be proud. As coaches like to say, I want the Panthers to be a tough out this year.

yep, after the bye I want all the potential playoff teams we face to be like, "Poo, we have those darn scrappy Panthers this week".

As long as we finish better than we start, I will be happy. Im not talkin a flip-flop like '04 either, I dont think it will be that drastic of a change... The 'new product' we will be seeing should keep things interesting enough regardless of the team's record...

i just want to see progress and growth from week 1 to week 17

i'd be happily surprised by a playoff appearance, but i'm in no way expecting it... nor will i be calling for players/coaches/marty's/jerry's heads when we don't make it

be realistic people... this is a rebuilding process. hurney and rivera are building a brand new team in a brand new image and it can't be completed in a single offseason

I know its hard, but just try to lower expectations.

Btw, don't be embarrassed about the Panthers, people will actually respect you for sticking with your team no matter how bad they are, and when we are good again, everyone will know you are not a bandwagon.

In the end, it will be much more fulfilling.

great point

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
