Chicago restaurant choices?

For a view, Shula's Steakhouse is right on the river close to the lake below the Sheraton. Shula's is very pricey, however, it is very worth it.

Chicago is great no matter where you go.

To be clear ... I'm not married to "steakhouse" or "Italian" or even "view."

Originally, my first criteria was the great view, followed closely by good-to-great food, followed closely by "not outrageously expensive."

Then, I started looking at other options, and Harry Caray's came to mind.

Fwiw, I went to Harry Caray's and was not all that impressed. But we were staying at Embassy suites a couple of miles from the Navy Pier and there was a place across the street called Weber's I think, and it was great. Its at the intersection of N. State street and Ohio.

This si great because I am heading to Chicago for the first time at the end of the month. Harry Caray's seems like one place I will put on my agenda.

try rick bayless' places - frontera or xoco. he couldn't possibly be any more different from his brother (skip) and his food is incredible.

Definatly check out frontera. Rick bayless is one of the best mexican food chefs in the world. I know you said not crazy expensive but Tru is a faboulous fine dining restaurant. Will cost you at least 100 bucks just for the food.if i was in chicago, i would splurge for one nite

That's utter nonsense. Haray Caray's is probably the best steakhouse I've ever been to. The location is mediocre, but the food is certifiable, and it's got nothing to do with the name attached to it.

Gene & Geogetti's? Are you serious? They only have FOUR cuts of steak! They have more variety at Outback!

Harry Cary's is the most over rated steak house in Chicago. I have had better steaks at several places in Charlotte.

I have eaten there probably 3-4 times and it was good, but not great, each time.

It is known for his name.
