OK WOW LMAO at Meril fucking Hodge and his hate...

he backtracked on SportsCenter and said something like "well, they only averaged 2.7 yards a rush but the main thing is that they stuck with the running game."

he also used the very first play of the game as an example of keeping both TEs and RBs in to pass protect, while only having one WR running a route. he made it sound like this was the philosophy the entire game, which is total BS.

he gave pretty much everyone credit for the 422 yards, except cam newton.

Never mind that they ALL went out for a pass. I know both the RBs and at least one of the TEs did. Off the snap too, not delay routes. Hodge is a fuging retard who just does not understand the game of today.

no doubt. not to mention the fact that the ball was on the 10 yard line. the play calling is usually going to be pretty conservative in situations like that, with or without a rookie QB that's about to take his first snap.

Since I'm without a TV and ESPN, could someone break down what Hoge's argument was without saying how stupid it was? I am sure it was, I am not doubting that, I am just honestly curious what bullshit he has come up with to explain it and it's hard to understand what some of you guys mean since I haven't seen it.

Im not sure what he said on SportsCenter, but from what I heard in the podcast he said Cam got a lot of help and that Chud and Rivera did a good job keeping him in a comfort zone by putting him in two TE sets as well as cutting the field in half for him. He also said the running game thing like I mentioned.

from what i can remember, he said that the playbook was cut in half, only one WR was running routes and everyone else was staying in to pass protect and to keep Newton from having to go through his reads, the WRs did a great job of going up and getting his passes, the running game was great, and then he corrected himself and said that the running game wasn't that great but what was important was that the Panthers stuck with it.

then he went to the monitor to break down the very first play of the game and used that play to support his claim that there was only one receiver running routes on most plays.

he's right about our WRs making good plays on the ball (save for like the last 4 plays of the game, ffffffug, and that's what they should do) but it's pretty obvious he only watched our highlights...

ah well, I'm fine with that. George Whitfield was having fun with him yesterday a bit, lol

    • The league would protect him.  The amount of poo Jerry Jones has had exposed and got away with?  The amount of poo Stephen Ross has got away with?  How long Dan Snyder got away with essentially fuging sex trafficking employees and poo???????  Taking down JR was a hit job.  You think the other 31 owners, especially the older ones aren’t blathering, blatant, ignorant ass, bigoted rich racists who have committed far worse things than Blue Jean Fridays?  The ones I named above have DEFINITELY did worse than what JR was accused of.  And do you think guys like Steve Smith would’ve been viewing him as a father figure if they felt that’s who he was?  JR pissed the league off with that last lockout situation and they made him pay.  They lined a new guy up to join their billionaire boys club in Tepper, and they prolly slid a pretty penny to Jonathan Jones to write the “expose,” to get JR out of here.  Again, all the owners I’ve listed above have been verified on record for doing worse poo, yet they’re still running their organizations, unquestioned.  They hand-picked Tepper long before JR was forced out, so he isn’t going anywhere.  Sadly.  fug the NFL.  (Also, to be clear, it’s always fug racism, bigotry, and sexual exploitation - not ever excusing it.  Just making the point that the NFL isn’t operating under this clear standard of justice applied to each and every case)
    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
    • Live look at Bryce playing ping pong.
